1. Introduction
The report is prepared for the development of a network framework for XYZ, company
that is located in Sydney. The company is located in three different location and have its main
office in Sydney and two other remote office in Adelaide and Melbourne. The company have the
requirement of allocation of IPv4 address to all the offices and create a subnet plan such that the
network device interface are configured and assigned with proper IP address in order to enable
transmission of data between various areas of network. The report is prepared for creation of the
local area network topology following a LAN design. The IP addressing plan is created
following the subnet and a hardware resource sheet is created for listing the network hardware
that would be required for the development of framework of network.
2. Local Area Network
2.1. Network Topology
The network is developed following the hierarchical network design model that helps in breaking
the complexity of designing into manageable and smaller problem. Different set of problem is
represented by each of the level in hierarchical model and it can be used by the network designer
optimizing the software and hardware for performing the specific role. The device connected in
the lowest layer of the network is used for optimizing and accepting data traffic in the network
and transfer the data traffic to the higher layer in the network.

2.2. LAN design
The LAN design is prepared following the prerequisite of the organization and allocation
of figure of hosts that are required in each of the departments of the organization. The three layer
conceptual framework works on the Open System Interconnection Reference Model. Modularity
is facilitated with the application of layered model and each of the devices connected with a layer
have similar functionality. The network is split into more than one subnets following the
functionality, availability and scalability needs of the organization (Zhang et al. 2018). The
composition of the network can vary depending upon the network needs and the main
components of the network are the router, switch, link and the combination of network device.
There are some network device that combines the functionality of two layers. The core layer is
used for access list checking, encryption of data and translating address, the distribution layer is
concerned with management of route update, management of VLAN traffic, aggregation of
address and providing route summaries (Zidek and Zimmerman 2019). The access layer is used
for supplying traffic for the network and performing controls for network entry. The end user

access is managed by the layer and is designed for prevention of unauthorized access to the
network resources.

4. Conclusion
The report concludes that the IP addressing and preliminary network design is essential
for management of communication between the inter-department. Inter department data transfer
is essential and management of access to the resource is needed for increasing the network
security. For the management of allocation of IP address in each of the location a DHCP server is
required to be organized such that it can automatically allocate the IP address to the hosts
following the subnet plan. A DNS server is needed to be configured for hosting the website of
the company and setting up the intranet and enabling the department to transfer data between
each other. For each of the branch a separate router is used and they are configured for allowing
the PC to access internet. A wireless router is used for each of the location and it is needed to be
configured with security encryption such that the network is secured. A plan of IP addressing is
developed following the number of PCs and servers installed in every location for enabling
configuration of the network device.
