Introduction
Being a marketing and advertising company, Color Ability Corporation (CAC) has experienced a
tremendous growth business wise as well as with its personnel. This growth therefore means that CAC
will have to move from x tower Brisbane CBD where they occupy level 10 and level 11 for their business
operations to the new four storey building which they recently acquired. This shift will therefore mean
that the company ought to have a proper network infrastructure in the new building in order to perform
their business operations in a more effective manner. In essence, a good network design provides a well
secured network that is easy to manage and monitor hence reducing chance of network failure which
could halt CAC business operations (Bird and Harwood, 2018). A proper network infrastructure should
therefore support the intended business operations as well as be reliable and available at all times. Such
network has its devices setup in a proper layout which makes it easy to troubleshoot in case of any
network issue.
This report therefore, provide a proposed network infrastructure which CAC should implement in their
newly acquired building at Brisbane in order to guarantee effective service delivery. This report
proposes quality networking components that the company should consider as well as the specific
specifications for these devices for various departments of the CAC. It also looks at the best network
design that will serve the company best as well as the IP addressing scheme and how the new proposed
network security could be improved using both public and private IP addresses. Finally the report looks
at the future plans of the proposed network in case the company will need to scale it up due to increase
in growth of the CAC business and employees.
Problem Statement
The new building that CAC recently acquired does not have any network infrastructure installed to it.
This will therefore not work for this company since all of its business operations relies on network hence
need for network installation for the four storey building.
Objectives
The main objective of setting up a proper network infrastructure for the new storey building nclude the
following:
Enhance email communications across the network between the employees and the
management
Provide a more secure connection which will guarantee CAC data privacy as well as
confidentiality.
Enhance sharing of network resources such as the printers in order to minimize the operational
cost for the CAC.
Provide internet connectivity to all the users within this organization both wired-connection and
wireless connection.
Provide an enabling environment for file sharing as well as centralized file storage feature.

Figure 1: Dell Computer C3760n Color Laser Printer
This printer can print up to 35 pages per minute hence making it suitable for high volume printing
services. It has a resolution of 600x600 dpi and it supports input USB, wired and wireless connections.
The printer also comes with a 10 digit keypad that allows the users to set up a security password thus
ensuring a safe way of accessing the server since it supports LDAP protocol which is a Kerberos
authentication. The printer is also affordable hence making it appropriate for the CAC (WARD, 2017).
HP Laserjet Pro M452dn Color Printer
This is another printer that CAC can consider to have in their new network infrastructure. This printer is
cheap in price and it has a printing rate of 28 pages per minute and can support between three to ten
users hence making it suitable for the company. This printer also supports input interfaces such as the
USB, wired and wireless connections (WARD, 2017). This printer provides quality and excellent printouts
hence making it suitable for producing marketing materials for CAC clients.

Activity 3
Networking devices are very critical in every network infrastructure. It is these devices that determines
the performance of a company’s network as well as various services that the intended network can
provide. This therefore means that the choice of what model and types of the devices to be used is of
great importance as well as determining how these network devices should be interconnected in order
to provide quality service delivery (B, 2018). The following therefore are some of the networking devices
that are recommended for the new proposed network infrastructure.
Switches
Switches are networking devices that provides interfaces where end users and other networking devices
can be connected to in order to access the company’s LAN (blazinglist, 2018). Switches therefore comes
Document Page
with Ethernet ports hence supporting wired connections to various users. The recommended
networking switches for this network is CISCO SYSTEMS SG112-24-NA Ethernet Switch (Armstrong,
2018). This switch provides a high security and reliable connectivity since it has 24 connectivity ports.
The device is easy to install and with its rectangular design it can be installed anywhere within the
building.
Figure 3: CISCO SYSTEMS SG112-24-NA Ethernet Switch
Routers
A router is a very important part of the networking infrastructure. It is the router that makes
communication within a network possible as it also links various LANs in a company. The recommended
router for the new network is Cisco 890 Integrated Services Routers (Cisco, 2018). This router provides a
secure connection and supports a high performance service deliver as well as diverse WAN connectivity.
This router is easy to set up and affordable in cost hence making it appropriate for the proposed
network.
Figure 4: Cisco 890 Integrated Services Routers
Servers
Servers are the networking devices that determines what services the network will support. The
proposed network will consist of mail server, print server, and file server among others. It therefore
Document Page
critical for the company to get the best server that will effectively perform these services without any
problems. This proposal therefore suggest that the company uses Cisco Small Business NSS3000 Series
(Cisco, 2018). This server provides a secure data storage environment as well as advance data backup
capabilities at an affordable price. The server supports up to 15 users concurrently and 4 TB of data
storage hence making it suitable for the company.
Figure 5: Cisco Small Business NSS3000 Series
Wireless Access Point
In order to support wireless connections, the company will need to have WAP devices that are reliable
and available at all times. Therefore, Cisco Small Business WAP581 (Nagao, 2018) is recommended
(Cisco, 2018). This devices supports secured wireless network connectivity which consist of 802.11ac and
802.3af network technologies (Choudhuri, 2012).

All these devices and many others should be interconnected together in a three tier network
architecture which supports scalability and modularity as shown below.
Figure 7: Network Layout
Such network design will ensure that the installed network infrastructure is easy to maintain and
monitor as well as making it more secure since each module works independently hence making it fault
tolerant.
Activity 4
A network infrastructure is never complete without having an internet service provider (ISP) in place.
The ISP are those organizations that provide internet access or bandwidth which makes it possible for
the organizations to function via network (Allena, 2018). Therefore CAC should choose an ISP that is
reliable and affordable at all times in order to ensure smooth working environment. There are a number
of ISP based in Brisbane in which CAC can chose from. The table below shows two of the ISP in Brisbane.
Document Page
Table 7: ISP Providers
Amongst the two ISP shown above, My Republic seems the best for the CAC since the cost per month is
affordable and it provides many services that will best suit the company. With this ISP the company will
have unlimited AUS landline calls, a Wi-Fi hub and unlimited data bandwidth.
Activity 5
The new proposed network infrastructure is expected to perform a number of services in order to
support all the business operations of the CAC. These services include, printing services, mailing, file
storage, application management, IP address management among others. Therefore, appropriate
networking devices and infrastructure should be in place in order to ensure that the organization enjoys
these services. The table below shows these services and what is needed for the network to perform
them.
Service Device Justification
Application Management Application Server Various CAC departments uses
different applications to
perform their daily business
activities. With the application
Document Page
server in place, it will be easy to
access these applications via the
company’s network.
Mailing Mail Server Considering that the main mode
of communication between the
employ8ees and the
management is via emails, a
mail server should be put in
place in order to ensure that
the network is able to manage
incoming and outgoing emails
within the organization
Dynamic IP Management DHCP Server The DHCP server will ensure
that users are assigned IP
addresses automatically hence
making it possible for the
proposed network
infrastructure to properly
manage the available IP address
during network connectivity.
Printing Management Print Server There are many printing
services associated with CAC
since it is an advertising and
marketing company. Therefore,
a print server should be in place
to manage all the printing
queues so as reduce traffic and
ensure that users share the
printer as a network resource.
File Storage File Server CAC would like to have a
centralized file storage platform
in place. This therefore means

that the new network
infrastructure should be
installed with a file server that
will provide this service.
Table 8: Network Services
Activity 6

Table 9: Requirements
Document Page
Activity 7
CAC has been assigned a public IP 194.30.90/28 by its ISP to be used for the new proposed network. It is
also give 192.168.0.0/24 IP address for their private network. This private network will be able to serve a
total of 254 users which surpasses the current 80 employees for the CAC hence making it the best IP
address to be used. Based on the organization structure of CAC, there will be five subnets hence this
means that the network mask will move to 255.255.255.224 which equal to 27 hence the network IP will
be 192.168.0.0/28 as seen in the appendix. The proposed IP address scheme will ensure that the
proposed infrastructure is scalable and secure hence protecting the company’s data. Each subnet will
have a total of 30 host who will be connected to the network as shown in the tables below.
Table 10: CAC Network Subnets
Document Page
Table 11: IP Address Scheme
Activity 8
The use of both private and public IP address for this new network infrastructure will guarantee quality
network security (Mercer, 2018). The private IP address will only be assigned to the networking devices
within the CAC network hence no other external device can communicate with this private network. The
public IP 194.32.9.0/28 will ensure that the private IP is shielded from being accessed by an outsider
hence ensuring that the CAC network remains secure at all times (Pepelnjak, 2018). With a private IP
address it will not be possible for the intruders to attack the CAC network by releasing malicious codes
or information into the network since it is hard to trace the company’s private IP.
Future Plans
With the proposed network infrastructure setup, the company’s future plans of extending the network
in case the current population grows in to a higher number is properly addressed. The new proposed
network design can be extended from any of the three layers identified on the three-tier architecture
without affecting any part of the network. This network also will be easy to manage and monitor hence
making it easy to trace every activity that occurs via this network. This therefore guarantees
accountability and easy network troubleshooting.
