INTRODUCTION
A report is developed which will help in understanding the aspects which are required to be
taken into consideration while developing a project. Drawbacks of the project of Frank will be
discussed and the ways with the help of which challenges and issues could be resolved will be
provided in this report. Information related with project management methodologies will also be
shared which will help in understanding the importance they hold in the project management
aspects. Also the report developed will ensure to provide information related with process that is
required to be followed in managing a project.

LESSON LEARNT FROM THE CASE
The case is on project management in which Frank start up his innovative business of making a
rapid prototype1. Frank have understood that working on the technology and bringing some or
the other new technologies will help him in gaining competitive advantage and will provide an
opportunity to grow in the market. Frank decided to work on rapid prototype and with the help of
the knowledge he had he designed a prototype for Cocable Company. At the time of introduction
of his prototype machine he failed to start the same in front of the Cocable Company which was
an embarrassing moment for Frank2. Hence, with the evaluation of all the aspects it was
discovered that there were certain aspects which were required to be focused upon to manage the
project these aspects are:
It is necessary that an individual working on the project should have proper information about
the project on which he is working. Lack of appropriate information will lead to affect the
project and results in project failure3.
Availability of proper set of resources should be there. Unavailability of proper set of resources
results in failure of the project.
Testing is one of the main aspects which are required to focus upon a technical project. In The
case of Frank, he hasn’t tested his machines and presented the same directly to the Cocable
Company due to which he failed in presenting what he planned4.
Planning is another aspect which is required to be focused upon.
And last but not the least preparing a checklist and cross checking all the aspects would have
helped Frank in developing a successful prototype4.

PAY TO BE MADE FOR CHANGES
Lack of proper information is one of the main reasons behind the failure of the project of Frank.
There were certain breaches in the information provided due to which the wrong assumptions
were made5. There were certain specifications which gone wrong and resulted in the failure of
the project of Frank. Hence, it becomes the responsibility of Cocable Company and GE to
provide compensation for the improvement of the prototype of Frank. There are certain changes
which are required to be made for which it will take $50000. Although the amount is huge for
the maintenance work but for the specs provided it is required that the processors should be
completely get replaced, actuators should also get replaced and the adhesion process should also
get replaced in the prototype made by Frank. By making these changes Frank will be able to
make a required prototype but future responsibility will rely upon Frank because company can
take the responsibility for one time only6.

ENSURING THAT THE PROJECT SCOPE WAS CORRECT
Understanding all the aspects related with the project it could be evaluated that the scope for the
project was correct. Reason behind it is that the project which was initiated by Frank was
effective and was having a future objective. Objective of the project was to provide the prototype
of the machines which are relatively cheaper than the real machines7.
Also the project which was initiated was innovative and was developed by taking future aspects
under consideration.
It could be suggested that in the future certain aspects could have been taken into consideration
like proper planning

Setting budget
Developing work breakdown structure 8
And using appropriate project management methodology like agile, scrum, PERT, waterfall, etc.

SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
Evaluating all the aspects indulged in the report it could be summarized and evaluated that
project management is a crucial task. It is not easy for everyone to manage the project in an
appropriate way8. It could be analysed that project management requires a proper focus planning
and understanding of all the technical aspects. Appling appropriate project management
methodology will help in managing the project in a proper way9. Also it is required that a focus
should be developed towards developing a blueprint of the project before initiating it.
Preparing checklist and reviewing each and every aspect at the final stage will help in bringing
quality to the project1. Testing is one of the most important aspects which are required to be
focused upon with the effect of which assurance will made that the project on which the work is
done is effective and will help in fulfilling the set objectives. Communication and proper
information is one of the main aspect required to be taken into consideration to develop a
successful project and to ensure that the project should be developed according to the
requirements of the target users4.
