Project
AI Summary
This project outlines the design of a Local Area Network (LAN) for a school building, utilizing Cisco Packet Tracer for network simulation. The design incorporates various network devices, including switches and a router, and focuses on configuring essential network settings. The project details the selection of appropriate network devices, configuration of DHCP services, and IP addressing schemes, including subnetting. Static IP assignments are also addressed. The document includes a table summarizing IP allocation for different departments within the school, along with references to relevant network configuration guides. This project provides a practical application of network design principles, offering a comprehensive guide to setting up a functional and efficient LAN environment.

1. Introduction
Ethernet LAN for the given scenario will be designed. Suitable network designing software will be
selected. Suitable network devices will be selected. Suitable network connecting media, IP
Addressing, DHCP Settings, Router settings and firewall settings will be done.
LAN design for a school building will be designed with suitable simulation software , suitable
switches , suitable router and other devices.
2. Devices Needed
Below are the products can be used in the current design.

3. Cisco Pocket Tracer Design
The network simulation is made in Cisco Pocket Simulator. One LAB with 20 systems and one office with 4
systems are taken into account.
4. DHCP Settings
DHCP services should be provided with a server based DHCP server. But here just for study used DHCP
services available in the router.

5. IP Addressing
My ID : 4580280
Lan Net ID can be : 10.108.100.0/23
SNM : 255.255.253.0
Maximum subnets : 512
Maximum IP Addresses : 510
Usable Host Range: 10.108.100.1 - 10.108.101.254

Router got two IPs. One is for the outside public. That is 130.150.122.190
Inside the first IP will be used by the router. 10.108.100.1 will be given to the router. It is
the default gateway for the entire network
SNM : 255.255.254.0
6. IP Allocation

7. Static IP Assignation
All the static devices will be given static IPs. All the PCs will take IPs from the DHCP server.
8. Conclusion
Simple LAN design for the school network is configured. All the experiments are done in Cisco
Pocket Tracer.
