INTRODUCTION
The New Zealand Migrant Settlement and Integration Strategy is the milestone in the
history of this country’s migration policy and is regarded to be approved by Cabinet in 2014. It is
an approach by the Government that focuses on migrants to make them settled successfully and
they must be integrated in New Zealand to make this country their home and can actively support
by participating and contributing in all the aspects of their lifestyle.
Present report will talk about impact of this strategy on educational business organization
in Auckland New Zealand and changes that has been occurred in business after its
implementation. It will also study the social and cultural impact on the organization due to the
implementation of this strategy.
MAIN BODY
Background of the Organization and Immigration Strategy
Government of New Zealand has introduced a new strategy which is supporting the
migrants that came and settled there by providing several aids such as making laws. This helps
migrants to make this country their home and give support and contribution for the upliftment of
this country. This strategy helped the government to successfully establish these migrants for the
development of New Zealand (Zealand, 2014). After the implementation of this strategy in 2014,
there are huge changes that have been introduced in New Zealand in the educational business
organization which includes both positive and negative impact respectively.
Academic College Group (ACG) is an educational private business operating in
Auckland, New Zealand. It was founded on 14 November 1994 by Sir John Graham and Dawn
Jones. Academic College Group offers education at all levels, starting at preschool and school
education to university programmes and vocational training as well (Iqbal, 2017). It also has
various schools which is operating under this group, such as, New Zealand Independent Schools,
International Schools, University Pathways in New Zealand, etc.

This strategy can have a huge impact on their business activity. It can affect this
organization in both the ways, i.e., socially and culturally as well. Education has a huge impact
on the behaviour in the student. Due to this strategy, it can affect the pattern in their education as
well (Knox, Marston and Imort, 2016). Improving educational achievement among low socio-
economic groups can help these immigrants to settle in New Zealand make contribution in its
improvement. Immigrants to the USA and Western Europe shows a disadvantage in academic
achievement that persists into the second generation. In contrast, an immigrant advantage is often
seen in countries with selective immigration policies as well.

 Social Impact: Due to this immigration strategy, it has become very difficult for the
student and for the professors as well to deal with these immigrants. As it is difficult to
understand their language, nature or behavior, etc (New Zealand Migrant Settlement and
Integration Strategy, 2018). The main reason for this can include factors like, language
limitations, academic content and learning styles were associated with difficulties in their
learning. Difficulties with academic content appeared to act as the major barrier to their
academic performance. Interacting with these immigrants can help a lot in knowing each
other socially.
 Cultural Impact: This factor is also considered as an important part in the educational
sector as it can affect their learning to a large extent. There are various factors which can
affect these immigrants culturally, such as, creating spaces where cultural knowledge and
identity are promoted and enriched among each other. This will help in making a good
relationship with them and making them feel safe in this country. To maintain this they
have to make a strong connection with them in order to understand them.
It is important for the educational sector of New Zealand to meets the necessarily
requirements of these migrants and ensures that they feel included. The main intention of this
immigration strategy is to bring a change in the understandings of migrants’ transitions into the

2018). This can be very beneficiary for them as well.

Working as an educational sector, it is very important to consider all the aspects that is
required for them. Application of professional towards this strategy and immigrants as well to
maintain a standard and quality of work in the institution. All the professors and teachers have to
treat all these immigrants with respect and help in making them comfortable (Hunter, Luna and
Norton, 2015). Other than this, it is essential to maintain an appropriate ethical behaviour within
the institute. This will assist in constituting a healthy environment. For the professional, it is very
essential to maintain a good environment for them in the institute so that all the migrants can feel
safe. This can also aid in providing them a good education as well. They have to focus on their
management so that they do not harm these immigrants.
Methods of Data Collection
For collecting data, a survey has been conducted through which impact of this
immigration strategy has been studied thoroughly. For this purposive sampling technique has
been considered. In this process, several has been questions to 10 professors and 10 students
which helped in analysing the overall impact of immigration strategy on immigrants. This helped
in getting accurate results.

On the basis of these questions that has been asked to different professors and students in
the institute, it helped in understanding their point of view for this immigration strategy. It also
helped in analysing the overall impact of this strategy on them and on their career as well.

Impact on career of professionals and students due to immigration strategy
From this graph, it can be seen that 55% of professor and students agrees on the fact it
has a huge impact on their career as it has decreased the number of career options due to so much
of competition. Only 25% population disagrees with this. And 20% has mixed reaction on this.

Theme 2:
Immigration strategy help institute to gain new knowledge and skills
From the above graph it is shown that 60% of population thinks that due this immigration
strategy, their institute has a gained a lot of new technologies, knowledge and skill which can be
very beneficiary for them as well as for institute. 20% professor and students does not accept this
fact.

Theme 3:
Difficulty in adjusting with them in terms of culture, behaviour, language, etc.
From the above graph, it is clear that 65% of professor and students agree that there was a
little difficult and uncomfortable while adjusting with them as it was very hard to understand
their language and culture to cooperate with the immigrants. Whereas, 15% were easily adjusted
with them. And 20% population has mixed thought with the adjustment.

From the above graph, it is shown that 70% of population found difficulty in interacting
with them as they were from different country or region, which makes it very difficult to make
effective communication. While for 25% of population disagrees on this fact.
