Introduction
Internal effectiveness of the organizations determines their competencies in operating in
the market. Newboy is one of the leading toy makers in the Middle Eastern region and operating
in a highly competitive market scenario. Thus, it is their organizational structure and design
along with their communication process that will influence their efficiency in the market. This
report will discuss about the internal competency of NewBoy, which includes organizational
structure, departments and communication skills. A few recommended steps will also be
discussed in accordance to the identified issues.
Organization management
Organizational structure of the NewBoy is flat and horizontal in nature. This refers to
having less number of hierarchical levels in the organization. Structure of the organization refers
to the process of how the internal stakeholders are knighted in the workplace and type of
hierarchy being followed in the organization. In the case of NewBoy, initiation of the horizontal
organizational structure is helping in having effective communication and less intermediaries
(newboy.com 2018). In addition, this is also helping their upper level management in
determining the requirements and problems of the lower level employees. There are number of
elements of organizational structure are being stated such as departmentalization, chain of
command and span of control. These elements are different types of structures being followed in
the organization and refer to different control process for the internal stakeholders (Ben-Ner
2013).
In terms of the organizational departments, only the major departments are being active
in NewBoy. This includes the marketing, human resources and finance. Thus, they are having

less number of departments. This is also helping them in having fewer amounts of complexities
between the departments and each of the departments are working in a particular sector. In terms
of the management style, learning organization approach is being maintained in NewBoy
(Kanten, Kanten and Gurlek 2015). This refers to the process of initiating the knowledge sharing
approach in the workplace along with having higher level of coordination and cooperation
among the internal stakeholders. In addition, learning style of management also refers to the
process of enabling the internal stakeholders to learn from their peers and initiate the decision
making process (Park et al. 2014). Thus, this approach is helping NewBoy in having cooperative
working environment skilled employees due to having the provision of the knowledge sharing in
the workplace.
Identification of skills in communication process
One of the major skills required for the effective communication is skill for cultural
considerations. This is due to the reason that NewBoy is having diverse workforce with
having different sets of culture. Thus, in order to have effective communication process,
managers should consider the cross cultural factors (Faller and De Kinderen 2014). This
will help to initiate the communication process according to the cultural factors of the
different employees. Thus, the issue of the cultural barriers can be avoided in the
communication process.
Another major skill important in the communication process is listening skill. This refers
to the approach of giving more space to the opposite party and carefully listening to their
views and opinions (Stone, Lightbody and Whait 2013). Thus, listening skill will help the
stakeholders involved in the communication process in having the perfect understanding
about what views of the opposite party.

Another required skill for effective communication process is showing respect. This is
due to the reason that if the mutual respect is not evident in the communication process,
then the communication will not have favorable outcome. Absence of mutual respect in
the communication process will cause barriers between the involved parties and right
message will not be communicated among them.
Recommendations
It is recommended that NewBoy should have their leadership also being included in the
learning approach. This is due to the reason that it will help the lower level employees to
have their learning process with the high level designations. Thus, they will be more
equipped and skilled in their workplace.
It is also being recommended that departments of NewBoy should be made more
centralized. This is due to the reason that centralization will help in having singular
approach across all the departments. In addition, centralization will also help all the
departments to have more coordination and cooperation among them.
NewBoy should have higher intensity of team work in place in order to provide the
employees to attain communication skills. This is due to the reason that initiation of team
work will ensure that all the employees are working in collective manner and they are
depended on each other. This will make them to gain the differences in culture in the
team and adhered to that.
It is also recommended that reward system should be included in the organizational
design. This will help to maintain the favorable impression with the employees and they
will be more motivated and productive in their workplace. In addition, it should also be
noted that initiation of the reward system will further help in enhancing the respecting

skill among the employees. They will involve respect more in the communication
process.
Conclusion
This report concludes that NewBoy is having an effective approach of internal
competencies, which include the horizontal organizational structure in place. In addition, it is
also identified that number of departments is also fewer in number for NewBoy. A few skills
required for the effective communication process are also discussed in this report. The
recommendations are given to overcome the identified issues and enhance the business
competencies.
