INTRODUCTION
For business it is necessary to improve their efficiency and performance so that they remain
competitive in market. There may occur various types of issues within firm which can impact on
their performance (Arnott, Lizama, and Song, 2017). So, for analysing of data there are many
models and BI tools available. Newcastle United Football club is an English professional club
which was founded in the year 1982 through merger. In present times club performance is
declining. They are not winning games as player performance has decreased. In this report it will
be described about performance of players of Newcastle united FC and what are issues being
faced. Also, recommendation will be given to improve performance.
Problem/ opportunity
It has been identified that in present times Newcastle united FC is facing issue related to
decline in performance of player. So, this has led to non attaining of goals and objectives.
Besides that, in various areas such as CSR, revenue, broadcasting profit, etc. is impacted in
negative way. Thus, for that a dashboard is prepared to analyse performance of player of few
years. Alongside, it will show that how performance has affected in negative way of club brand
image.
Furthermore, it is found that due to poor performance of player there occurs various other
issues as well such as decrease in fan base, revenue generated by advertising, etc. Here,
dashboard is prepare on various criteria such as goals, salary, games played, etc. Therefore,
dashboard will help in systematic analysis of weak performance of each player (Gaardboe, and
Svarre, 2018). By that, management will take effective decisions and make changes in order to
enhance performance of player. This will enable in increasing player as well as club performance
so that club is able to compete in league matches. Besides, it will result in rise in winning
percentage as well.
Theory related to problem
In Europe football is most watched sports by people. There are many types of clubs
which plays in different league games and compete with each other. However, revenue is
generated through ads, tickets, broadcasting rights, etc. Football clubs offer high fees to the
players who play efficiently and won trophies for the club. Moreover, winning position improves
the image of Football club to a great extent. Thus, it can be presented that as per performance
and skills variation take place in the fees paid by the club to high and low performing players.

Hence, for developing suitable fees structure, it is highly required for club to maintain the record
of each player performance (Mariani, and et.al., 2018).
On basis of issue, there are different theories which can be used in order to solve issue.
There are various models available such as 6 W’s theory, PDCA model, etc. They provide a
framework by which it becomes easy to solve problem in proper way. Then, action plan is
developed as well by which root cause of issue is identified and then changes are made. In
addition, model is useful in taking some relevant strong safety and risk measures so that in future
the issue does not arise. However, theory is beneficial in taking various measures to minimize
impact. In this there are various BI theories used in it such as SSM and balance scorecard. The
SSM is a cyclic learning system which enable in explore with actors within a real problem. It is a
model which is used in solving general business problem by which changes are made into
organization. Moreover, it is usually used in solving complex situation but there is varied view
and perception in this. Here, there are 7 steps that is included in it they are defined as
Step 1 enter situation, express situation, formulate root definitions built conceptual model
compare model define changes which are feasible and take relevant action for it. Then, in step 2
problematic situation is analysed (Polyvyanyy, and et.al., 2017). However, in step 3 root
definitions are formed. Then, activity models are built which allow in transforming of process. In
next step model is used to question real world situation. And at last action is taken to improve
situation. The methodology is highly useful in solving of issue by making changes. The steps are
taken in it to move forward in situation and what to do. Hence, problems are solved through
SSM. Here, another theory which is used is balance scorecard. It is a framework which help to
manage strategy. The vision, objective, target, etc. are linked in it. Basically, it measure financial
measure with performance objective. However, there 4 perspective in it that are financial,
customer, internal process and organization capacity.
In addition, theory of cause and relationship reduce risk by finding out issues. Here, in
present case football player performance is reduced. This may be due to various reasons like
stress level, low salary, fitness, etc. by which they are not able to perform well. Hence, it has also
led to increase pressure on management of Newcastle united FC . The PDCA model is having 4
stages that is plan, Do, check and action. It allows in solving of issues by taking certain actions.
Hence, dashboard is effective way to represent data with help of graphs and tables. Thus, data

will be examined and on basis of it decision is taken. It determine cost of each player and how its
salary is being paid (Puklavec, ,Oliveira,. and Popovič, 2018).

Analysis and justification of dashboard
The performance of business depends on how well their objectives are attained and in
what time period. Here, management of Newcastle united FC is responsible for analysis of
objective and performance of player. By analysis of dashboard it can be said that each player
performance of 2 years is given. The forward are not scoring goals. Also, defenders are
conceding goals due to which team is losing matched. Even in many appearances forward are
only able to score 2-3 goals. The management with help of dashboard has reviewed performance
of player. The dashboard has many things how other person are able to make things easy. The
dashboard consists of data of player height, weight, position, etc. along with it, goals scored, red
and yellow cards, is also included in it (Richards, and et.al., 2019). There is info as well related
to fouls done, passes of each player. Hence, from data it is evaluated Mitrovic is 26 years old and
has appeared in 37 matches and has scored 11 goals. Besides that, he has given most number of
passes that is 1026. Thus, it shows that the player is performing well in all matches and it has led
to result in winning games. The performance of player is at high level and his position is
forward.
Similarly, the goalkeeper Martin performance has also decreased. It is found that in 2018 -19 he
appeared in 38 match and kept 11 clean sheet. The team lost 17 games out of 38 games played.
And in 22 appearances in 2019- 20 he kept only 5 clean sheets. He conceded 34 goals overall.

The team lost 10 games. Thus, it is found that performance of goal keeper has decreased. So, it
require improvement to be done. Besides that, the dashboard state that player Matt Ritchie plays
at midfield. So, in 2018- 19 he appeared in 36 games. The team won 12 games and there were 16
losses. However, he gave 1100 total passes into his 36 games. And in 2019 -20 he only appear in
3 games. The team won 1 and lost 2. The total passes made was 103. Hence, it shows that player
performance has declined. He is not able to perform in effective way. But on other hand, Jamaal
appeared in 12 match and has scored only 1 goal. Hence, in this team is able to win 4 game and
lost 5. Moreover, goal conceded in it was 18 and clean sheet made was only 2. In addition, total
number of successful passes made by him during 12 match is 298. Hence, it shows that player
performance is worst. It is found that overall info is presented in graph. So, it will be easy for
management of club to take effective decision (Rouhani, and et.al., 2018).
Thus, it can be found that in Newcastle united FC there is lack of leadership and improper
training as well. Due to that players are not able to perform well in games. Other than this, there
is need to make new tactics on basis of which training is given to players and they are able to
play well at their position. The management and coaching staff needs to focus on finding out
issues and solving it. Therefore, all player performance has decreased in 2019- 20 due to which
Newcastle united FC is not able to win games. All player height and weight is proper but the
main thing is ineffective training and tactics by which team players are not doing well. It will
enable in increasing efficiency of players by which game is played. With change in management
and strategies club will win more games and perform well in league.
While the company's performance was not consistent with the set objectives, the club
identified a number of issues like time for coaching is not appropriate, tournaments for play, As
well as salary problems etc. Performance indicators measurements that track the performance of
person to achieve set targets can be used to solve the issues of club components by the club
manager and achieve these goals (Sun, Sun and Strang, 2018). The club established a
framework to control collective efficiency and the actions of its members. Each person conduct
in the club defines how much money they obtain during a match.
CONCLUSION
From dashboard it can be concluded that the dashboard has enabled in finding out issues due
to which player performance is weak. Newcastle united FC is not providing effective salary to
players. This can be seen that player who have performed well is not given high salary as
8

compared to those who have not performed well. Hence, there is no criteria or metrics formed on
basis of which salary is given. So, there is no relation between goals and salary. Due to that
Newcastle united FC is not able to retain their players.
Recommendations
There are certain recommendations which club need to take in order to increase player
performance. It is as follows:
The club must provide effective and relevant training to each player. They need to make changes
in training tactics and strategies to treat players.
The coach can identify two categories in which there is weak and average performer and then
their performance must be evaluated. It will help in giving training to them on basis of it. Hence,
salary can also be given to them on performance basis.
Newcastle united FC can hire new players and sell those whose performance is weak. They can
make cut in wages by which financial performance of player is improved as well.
