INTRODUCTION
This case study discusses about the situation of falling sales of newspaper and response
of working as senior manager’s decisions. Managers response that identify the reasons for fall
sales. Different market research must find primary reason, the primary reason is that the paper is
printed too early on the previous day and the new is out of date. This company have 40
copywriters/designers. They have responsibility to designed to new content of each edition. Also
manage timing for working environment according to the situation. Senior manager has demand
to do paper written/ designed later in the day (Adams, 2017). The management wants to increase
the time of working hours so that sales can be enhanced. They want to change the timings from
10a.m. to 7a.m. from 1p.m. to 10. p.m. It will help in covering new stories and keeping it up to
date.
KEY ISSUES AND PROBLEMS
In addition, Manager wants to change working hours of copywriters. this will help for the
news will be on correct time. In this situation senior manager have statement that gives same
time as working but the term and condition will not have affected. Also, believe this to be the
best decision for trade union. There is no alternative option for this problem and copywriters
must have works exactly the same length of hours in return for exactly the same pay condition.
this statement of senior managers has different responses by the trade union, they said that they
don't change working hours no matter what is condition, and its effectiveness on the business,
also they have complaint that they have option but no one is bothers to ask and the proposed for
new hours will cause significant difficulties. All the situations and commitments in case is

First issue is that suddenly newspaper sales in falling and is response that senior manager take
decision to carried out market research in attempt to identifying reason for fall sales. The reason
that sales falling is that the paper is printed too early on the previous day, and its results that
news is older to read by the customer of Lemchester news. Any newspaper is grading sales is for
betterment of fresh news and effective news that capture customer. This company have 40
copywriters and digital design (Anuar, 2015).

Lemchester can use some strategies like-

Second issue is there timings that follows to solve problems. Copywriters hours of working
hours change into 1 pm to 10 pm before that copywriters timing is 10 am to 7 pm. Copywriters
should know how to spend time and set priorities. They should fix planning tools and get
organized. Thus, they should schedule time appropriately and delegate so that they can help
others. Lemchester must know how to manage time and not to waste it (Time Management: 10

The third issue have is to different statement that proves management of the Lemchester
newspaper company is weak, senior manager want to change timings, but trade unions don’t

problems that affect the sales fall. To find the solution for the market condition that must create
the decision by the senior manager, the effective sales in the market, also that influenced
customer that attract the news. Proper decisions should be made by the management level of
Lemchester so that sales should not be affected and must understand that there should be proper
understanding between trade unions and senior management and they can apply strategies like
establishing stalls at shopping malls or train stations. Contests and freebies of newspaper is
another idea to increase sales if the company like Lemchester is weak. It can use social
networking sites also to attract customers. Timings should be set according to working
conditions of employees so that they can give the best in increasing sales of newspaper (Rush,

successful change in today's business world. To bring successful change there has to be logical
and rational sequence of changes. It can be considered more simplistic.
