6CC552 Research Project: NFC Based Healthcare Information Portability

This report discusses a research project focused on Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology for health information portability. The initial proposal identified objectives to define research content, plan the research, and inform stakeholders. The research aims to address issues in Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and review the effectiveness of NFC with Android phones and EHR systems. The study will also review NFC technology architecture and prototypes. The final report will include extended literature reviews, practical solutions, and implications for research, particularly in the context of mobile devices in healthcare management. The research design includes an explanatory design to understand current issues, secondary data to find solutions, and qualitative methodology to analyze data. The student will review 20 peer-reviewed journal articles to ensure the quality of the research.

Discussion on further research
The project proposal studied on “Near-Field Communication (NFC) based-model for health
information portability”. The initial stage of my research proposal is to identify objectives help
me to define the research contents, plan and perform the research work. It informs researcher
supporters about the project topic and quality of the work. The proposed research work is
justified and after general framework is described, the research topic is narrowed down in
literature review section. We are again mentioning the research objectives for your clear
understanding on my discussion:
 To highlight some of the issues in Electronic Health records and Health Information
records
 To review the effectiveness of NFC with android phones and the EMR system
 To review NFC technology architecture and the prototypes in health information records
 To develop an architecture for NFC technology
I described usage of NFC in both research proposal and ethical form, mainly in the healthcare
sector. The key points which I would add later in the literature review section in final report are:
i. As an extended literature study in final report, I would like to add possible issues in
healthcare sector which would overcome with NFC as a solution.
ii. The practical solutions of problems are proposed in this study carried out for health
information portability due to use NFC technology.

iii. When I will prepare the final report, I would relate findings to findings of other and
identify implications for the research.
iv. With increase in usage of the mobile devices, it is used in healthcare management. In this
work, we would propose an architecture to improve the healthcare system by means of
Android based phone with NFC technology. Therefore, the literature study will analyze
NFC based secured mobile healthcare system.
v. The main contribution of the paper is proposing applications for secured medical tags to
reduce the medical errors, secured health card based NFC tags, mobile devices.
The purpose of research design and methods section is identification of selected methods
for the research study. The selected method for this work is secondary data which would
provide in-depth details of the selected topic. In the proposal, I had not aligned aim and
objectives with selected methods. Therefore, in the final report, I would like to add some
points in research design section so that it will show how the project will achieve its
proposed aim and objectives:
i. Explanatory research design will help to find out the first objective of the study,
means understanding of current issues in the health information records.
ii. Secondary data will help to find out the solutions to those identified issues of
health information portability. This method will assist to search for data on
review of NFC technology architecture and prototypes in the healthcare
information records. This method will helpful to find data on the third and fourth
research objectives.
iii. Qualitative methodology is used to understand current EMR system with gaps in
the proposed system. This method will helpful to find data on the second research

objective mentioned above. The qualitative makes easier to analyze data by
means of understanding biases, gaps, social context as well as other problems.
I had selected secondary data as mentioned in proposal and ethics form as it will help me
to evaluate and perform critique of the published research reports. The produced data in original
project should scrutinize to make sure that the research work is consisted higher validity along
with reliability. I will review 20 peer review journal articles on the selected topic to provide
quality to my research work.
