Introduction
In this the organization national health services of United Kingdom was analyzed on the basis of
caretaker job. The job profile of caretaker was discussed along all the skills they should have to
be good in their profile. These skills involve good communication, better management and
organization of the work, and proper efficiency in the work. The skills which are lacked by the
caretakers are also discussed like they are not able to do anything during medical emergencies
and many other factors. The solution to the lacking factors can be resolve by giving proper
training of the lacking aspects. The research on the working life of a caretaker was also
performed. The GANNT chart is also going to show the overall time duration of training

I am working in National Health Service (NHS), UK which is a leading organization in
providing health care service since 1948. This organization works in various cities of the United
Kingdome to ensure the health of the people belong to that region. Health services provided by
the NHS are free up to range and only prescription charges need to be paid by the patients. Also,
this organization arranges care assistant for the patient who can take care all of the needs of the
patient. As the patients are increasing due to accidents and other problems up to 150%. NHS is
an independent organization which is funded by the government and people of the country. This
organization introduced new policies for the overseas patients. Patients having health card of
European Union can have treatment in UK without payment. This organization induced new
strategies for improving the health of the patient by providing them a care assistant. Care
assistant work in a way that patient can heal at high rate. The funding for the organization is
raised up to 98% from the government and remaining part of the funding is contributed by the
patient and donations. Employees of the organizations are paid from the collected funding and
remaining fund is used for buying medicines and for increasing the infrastructure facilities. All
the arrangement related to machines, medicine and care for the patient is done by the
organization. Surveys done by the several institutes tells facts about the organization that
organization is lacking in providing care services and also don not perform well in cancer
treatment (Stankunas, et. al., 2019).

3. Your roles and responsibilities.
I am working as a care assistant in NHS organization which assigns me care taking
responsibilities of the patients. A care assistant fulfills all the necessary requirement of the
patient and helps them in improving their health with high rate. I was assigned to maintain the
hygiene of the patient by cleaning their stuff and giving medicines to the patient on time. Also, I
used to complete all the academic formalities of the patient to eliminate hurdles from the
treatment. Mainly health care assistant are assigned in emergency departments where a patient
need a care taker. A care assistant is directly in touch with the patient for providing care in
supervision of the registered doctors or nurses. Health care assistant plays a vital role in the
betterment of the patient’s health by supporting the patient emotionally as well as creating
environment in such a way that patient’s mind can be diverted. Care assistant serve for the needy
patient in maintaining their hygiene and also cleaning the work area. Care assistants are trained
with a particular skill sets that they can perform well in maintaining the patient’s health.
Trainings includes the mental as well as physical awareness about the patient that how a patient’s
need can be fulfilled (Alqadami & Shelke, 2019).
Main work of the care assistant:
To serve food as well as help people to eat.
To maintain the hygiene by cleaning the required stuff.
Care assistant helps patients to move around.
Observing the changes in the patient’s health.
Providing medicines on time for the better results in health improvements.

All the machinery and tools required for medical use are organized by the management
system.
Infrastructure is built by the organization from the fund.
Funds raised through the donation are managed by the organization.
Payment of the employees of the organization is managed by the organization.
Training to the staff of the organization is provided by the organization.
Health of the patient is monitored by the organization.
All the necessary arrangement is done by the organization. Also, it is organization’s
responsibility to take care of all the required arrangement for the betterment of the patient’s
health. A patient requires a care assistant who can manage all the needy work and help patient to
heal fast. Care assistant is provided to the patient to maintain their health and to complete their
academic works. Organizations also arrange required training for the employee which can help in
the betterment of patient health (Ewane & Ajagbe, 2018).

Academic department in the health care sector: For the work experience this department
needs background of employee related to accounts because the data need to be managed in this
department will be related to payments and entries of the patients.
Maintenance department: maintenance department holds a major part of the organization
which maintains all the machineries, cleaning, and infrastructure. This department plays a key
role for the healthy working within organizational premises. Maintenance department controls
the working area of the organization and fix the breakdowns.
Travelling department: Health care organizations need transport of the patient from one place
to other so it required an active transport system which can move the patients on time so that
patients could be saved from major losses. Need of transport might arise any time so this
department must be ready for the emergency conditions.
Management department: this is the top level department within an organization which
controls all other department. This department fulfills the needs of the organization for smooth
work. In health care organization management depart controls all the movement of the patients,
funds, machinery and maintenance.
Recruitment for the staff: In health care organization recruitment of the new employees is
performed by this department. This department organizes the recruitment for new employees.
This department fixes a standard which is followed strictly to recruit new employees. New
employees need high skill sets according to the organization.
Each department needs different skills in the employees which can be achieved by the training.
Work experience play key role in the growth of the organization as well as to perform smooth
flow work (Davis, et. al., 2018).

The job of care taker is to take care of its patients both physically and emotionally. While
performing the jobs I faced problems in operating the medical equipments sometimes. In sudden
emergencies when doctor is not able to check patients then it is my duty to take care of them
during medical emergencies at that time I faced problem in operating the blood pressure monitor,
pulse oximeter. If I was capable of operating the medical equipments then I only I can give them
medicines according to that. To resolve this I wish to take training of the job performed by the
nurse which will not only help me in getting the knowledge of medical equipments but also I will
get the knowledge of some medicines I are given to patients at sudden emergencies. Not only
health awareness matters but I found myself physical not fit, as I am not capable of performing
physical activities effectively. So I also wish that I should get a proper training to do physical
work by a trainer who will also teach me how I can defense myself and to the patients. I found
myself lacking in the communication skills, in my job profile I need to communicate with many
people and along the communication I also need to understand them. Sometimes I lack in
providing emotional support to them because I feel that I did not understand their thoughts. For
this if I get a training of understanding the others psychology then it will help be in supporting
the patients emotionally and I can also motivate them according to their way of thinking and
behavior (Sharifa, 2019).

I can perform the job profile of a caretaker if and only if I will get the proper training of being a
caretaker. This training involves that I should have all the skills of a caretaker that are as follows-
I should be able to manage the entire situation even at the time of crisis. For this it is
important for me to be strong mentally. So that I can handle myself and others too.
I need to work on the communication skills both verbally and non- verbally. So that I can
make an effective communication with those people of whom I am taking care. This skill
will also help me in understanding the behavior and thoughts of patients. To tackle them
in the emotional situations.
The basic medical knowledge is also important for me to know. So that I can help the
patients when they are not well. This includes the basic knowledge of medical
equipments to observe patients. I should also get the training and knowledge of those
medicines which are given at the time of emergency. And will not harm the patient’s
health.
It is not only sufficient to have medical knowledge along this a short training about the
technical information is also required. Some that I can perform also do some work of
maintaining equipments and the job of repairing minor things.
If I am working in an organization then it is also important for me to know how can I
supervise and can organize the things and patients in the organization. For this the
practical training should be done in which I can be the part of all the situations. This will
help me in improving the decision making process with the change in situation (Li, et.
al., 2018).

in which over 23 days duration the work is schedule in which for first five days management is
done for the crisis situation. Four days over communication is work, six days medical knowledge
is gained, four days technical training is scheduled and in last four days management and
supervision is done for the learning.
