INTRODUCTION
The business operates in an environment which is very dynamic and ever changing and
because of this it is essential for the company to manage and adapt to all the changes. Thus, for
this it is essential for the company to analyse the environment in which the company is operating
(Fabus, 2018). The present report is based over company NISA which is a small retailer
company which was founded in the year 1977 and is headquartered in Scunthorpe in United
Kingdom. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Co- operative group limited and mainly
deals in groceries and has its own convenience shops and supermarket at small level. The current
report will outline the analysis of the company and the use of CSR in the company and also the
importance of innovation and creativity.
Company overview
The company NISA is a retailer which was established by Garvin as a means of fighting
with the bog supermarket and retail companies. But later in the year 2011 the company was
opened its own new distribution centre at Scotland in the Livingston. But later on the NISA got
agreed at the purchase agreement by Co- operative Group in the year 2017 in November and now
it is a part of Co- operative Group. Also, the company is having around 4000 convenience shops
and also the small level supermarket. The major competitors of NISA are the large supermarket
and retail companies and also companies like SPAR limited, Costcutter, londis plc. and many
other different types of companies dealing in same business.
ANALYSIS
SWOT analysis
The SWOT analysis is the one which assist the company in analysing the internal
strength and weakness which the company possess. This is very essential for the company to
analyse its internal strength and weakness because there are many different changes taking place
within the external environment which affects the internal capacity of company (Aribawa, 2016).
Thus, with help of SWOT analysis NISA is able to manage all its weakness so that they can
overcome it and work in better manner.
Strength- the major strength of the company is as follows-
The company is using some advancement in the packaging techniques so that it can
provide the consumer with good quality of product and services. This is strength as this

new and attractive packing will attract more of the consumers (Hamilton and Webster,
2018).
The company deals in a wide range of product and service which it provides to the
consumers. This is strength for the company as this attracts large number of consumers
and this increases the sales of the company and in turn the profits of the company are also
increased.
Another major strength of the company NISA is that the company has its own brand
equity which is good for the company. This is particularly because of the reason that this
assists the company in getting and covering larger share of market.
Weakness- when the company operates in the global business environment and there are many
different types of changes taking place in the external environment. Thus, the major weaknesses
of NISA are as follows-
The major weakness for the company is that the company is having a low global market
presence as the company is not operating at a large scale. This is a weakness because of
the reason that in the current market scenario the competition is at global level and if the
company will not have global presence then this will affect the working of the company.
Another major weakness of the company is the limited finance with the company and this
is the weakness as the company is a small scale company so it does not have much access
to the large or high amount of finance.
Opportunities- within the global business environment there are some of the changes which can
be adapted by the company for growth and development and these are listed as follow-
With the global market the most common strategy for NISA is to go for the online
business. This is majorly because of the reason that major trend within the business
environment is the use of online shopping mode. Thus, due to this reason this is the major
opportunity for the business to use and develop itself.
Another major opportunity for the company is to adapt to the latest technology within the
market. This is due to the reason that use of technology makes the working much easier
and this asset the company in growing and developing to a great extent (Carey, Simnett
and Tanewski, 2017).

Threat- the business operates in the external environment wherein there are many of the changes
and some changes poses some threat for the company. Some of the threats for NISA are as
follows-
The major threat for NISA is relating to the high and intense competition which is present in
the global business environment and which needs to be faced by the company for getting
success (Babatunde and Adebisi, 2018). This is a threat as the company has to fight with the
similar companies for the number of consumers and this will affect the overall working of
the company.
Another major threat for the company is that the need and demand of the consumer is
frequently changing and this affects the working to a great extent.
Use of corporate social responsibility
The management of the company is very essential for the company to gain success and
competitive advantage over other companies. This is essential because of the reason that there
are many companies which deals in the same or homogeneous business and for this it is essential
for the companies to do some extra thing for the consumer and the society. Hence, for this
purpose it is crucial for NISA to make use of effective corporate social responsibility (CSR). The
CSR is referred to as the giving a financial help or the protection to the environment and the
society to grow and develop in better manner.
Thus, for this the major strategy for NISA to have a competitive advantage is the use of
good and innovative style of packing which does not make use of the plastic into it. This is
essential for the company as no plastic packing will attract more of the consumers. This is
pertaining to the fact that the protection and safeguarding of the environment is the major type of
social responsibility which the company can perform in order to protect the society and the
environment. For this purpose the company uses the plastic free packing which assists the
company in managing and protecting the environment and keeps the consumer attracted towards
the company and its product.
Innovation and creativity
Innovation and creativity is referred to as the process through which the company tries to
add something new and good in the existing product and services of the company (Dragnić,
2019). This is necessary for the company to use as there are large number of companies which
deals in the same or identical product and services. The major innovation and creativity which

the company NISA is bringing is the developing a healthy food product range involving totally
healthy and organic food ingredients. This is majorly used as an innovation because of the fact
that this is the major trend going on in the market and the consumer has also developed their
interest in the consumption of the healthy food products. Thus, this innovation will attract most
of the consumers as the consumer will like the fact that the company is working on accordance
with the latest trends going on in the market (Pickton and Wright, 2019).
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
In the end it is concluded that the use of analysis of the business environment is very
essential for the company in order to manage the success of the company. This is particularly
because of the reason that if the company will not assess the current trend then the company will
not be able to manage the working of the company. The report stated that the use of SWOT
analysis is very essential for the company as this helped NISA in identifying the strength and
weakness of the company and the present threat and opportunities in the external environment.
Also, it was seen that taking care of environment and time to time innovating is very essential for
the company to manage their performance of the company.
With the above analysis it is recommended to NISA that they must focus on the latest
technology relating to the marketing that if digital technology. This is particularly because of the
reason that when the company will make use of the social media marketing then the company
will be able to capture more of the consumer.
Another major recommendation for the company is that they must focus on more of the
better market research technology so that the company can assess what is going on in the market.
This is essential because of the fact that when the company researches around in the market then
they come to know what is happening in the market and then they can analyse what changes will
be beneficial for the company and which will not.
