INTRODUCTION
Caring is regarded as a duty of wide variety of people and not just one individual. It is
considered that if people will get good support and care then they will be able to get cured more
easily as they will get emotional, social and physical support which will be very effective. This
report will be very helpful in making them happy and satisfied. In NHS there are many people
who support activities for caring people (Gaskell, 2010). This report is important to know roles
and responsibilities in social care.
TASK 1
P1 Identification of roles of non-direct workers
Social care environment are non profit society having some goals to welfare society such
as nursing homes, day care centres,etc. There are many executive and non executive persons in
NHS. Executive workers are necessary but at the same time these days role of non executive
personnel also increases. Executive workers work in front of public, while non executive
workers supports are the activities of company. Some non director workers are as follows- Driver- There are vehicles used in care homes, so there is requirement of drivers. So they
play vital role in transporting people as well as material from one place to another. Caterer- These are people who provide assistance in cooking and serving. Hence they are
essential part in conducting day to day operations (Harris and Leather, 2011). Office staff- There are various activities such as entertainment, expense relate to daily
routine, etc. are part of NHS. Hence there is need of administration department which
look after these activities. Security guard- Security of old age people is important as major issue. So there is need of
security guard in premises.
Maintenance- There is need of sweeper, gardener, etc. for maintaining cleaning in care
home. This is important to analyse what steps must be taken to maintain good
surroundings.
P2 Interpersonal skills required for non-direct workers

competencies in organisation. Personal skills are inbuilt in person while interpersonal skills can

maintain that decorum so workers must be aware of language while talking, tone,
pitch,etc. Worker must have listening skills. There is interacting between candidates of
various departments regarding changing of information. Non verbal communication skills- Not only verbal language but also non verbal skills
such as gesture, posture, dressing sense,etc. are essential while interacting to other
person. Non verbal communication give based or good impression without uttering a
single word so it is important that management has to teach non verbal skills (Kossek and

Roles of non direct worker are: Manager- They have to sometimes work as manager in care homes are guide different
personnel. Manger has to motivate team members to achieve assigned duties and
responsibilities. Health and Care worker- Organisation is formed for some specific reason so non direct
worker has to perform task of health and care worker. Volunteer- There are various events on occasion which are organised or conducted by
NHS. So it is responsibility of Non direct work to volunteer events (McGarrigle and
Walsh, 2011).
Other roles- There are many other roles which non executive director has to perform.
