Introduction
According to Bolman & Deal (2017) leadership is the act of leading guiding and or more
precisely controlling of people in and around and organization by people of significant influence,
Management on the other hand is the body is the administration body concerned with
formulation objectives and strategies to accomplish them in profit or non-profit making
organization(Anheier, 2014). Therefore although they are different management and leadership
are like a brother and a sister they go hand in hand.
Leadership model in non-profit making organization
Executive director is employed and terminated by the board of directors to possess the highest
office in the organization to oversee all other departments of the organization such as human
resource sourced by the volunteers, finance, and act like a link between the organization and
external bodies and man the progress of the organization with a well-defined relationship with
community where the organization operates. Personally from chapter four, I feel too well suit in
the second quadrant of leadership because for any organization to scale in terms of development,
proper planning, communication and wise decision making is the key and the goals can only be
achieved with proper co-ordination of a well empowered and guided team.
Bryson (2018) state that , as you define your vision and determining the number of staffs with
what kind of skills are needed to perform a particular task in relation to the cultural,
technological and economical changes and prediction of possible future changes you need to
exercise high level of integrity to cope with the complexity arising, respect and competence and
strong relationship to create trust that consequently will lead to excellence in the field.

To the board of governors the executive director owes respect and acting as per their
expectations since they are his employer. To the side of people who of those working with
expectations of a very little return, you need to understand them and appreciate their time they
sacrifice to give back to the community. According to Butler & Wilson (2015) the strategies
formulation should not leave the community out of the party, their needs need to be given
priority and defended to make the people feel appreciated.
Besides being the highest office in any organization there is still challenges that the officers in
the position faces by fate. According to Maier, Meyer& Steinbereithner, (2016) it starts with
assessing innovative ideas to cub with the stiff competition in the industry; unlikely the executive
directors’ powerlessness to effect changes without conducting a sitting with the board of
directors even if there is need for immediate adjustment of the situation. At some point there is
lack of a clear role they should perform since some most of the roles are performed by the board
of governors (Bittschi, Pennerstorfer & Schneider, 2015). Being the head you are always vied as
everybody’s counsellor and faced with Unreasonable expectations with poor compensation as
you are also expected to volunteer in a way this does not stop there as technology is no static and
its advancement and more trouble as the risks management now summarizes it all, therefore the
executive director should rely on the information obtained from the board of directors to solve
the above.

The survival of any organization is built on the bases of compliance with the rule of law by the
governing body sense of legality in activities and legal registration, also the customs and culture
of the people should be kept at heart otherwise it all becomes trouble(Wraikat, Bellamy& Tang,
2017) . The changes in technology should never be neglected as these results to great changes in
the economy that will consequently lead the company to be competed out (Wellens & Jegers,
2014). Changes in any of the above should be embraced to cub competition. The organization
should sensitize the donors on any activity to carry on proving accountability and maintaining
their support. Cooperation with other bodies in activities of giving back to the community should
be embraced, this may include offering seminars to teach and train the young generation on new
innovation and investment to cub unemployment. According to Ebrahim, Battilana& Mair
(2014) Social media advertisement to market the organization is a current trend in marketing that
bears success and if used together with open forums to inform the members of the public about
the organization the result outcome is even better.
Fundraising philanthropic activities.
The kind of organization in question here depends entirely on donations which can be collected
from the public through installation of donation boxes at point of high population flow
(Hiemstra, 2017). Also the donations can be collected through organizing fund raising event that
will target support from well-wishers, government or other non- profit making organization
whose success can be theoretically measured through evaluating the mass turn out. According to
Galvez-Rodríguez, Caba-Pérez & Lopez-Godoy (2016) being transparent will create trust with
the donors although not as better as the actions can do since actions speaks louder than words
therefore calling for a need to embrace both.

Culture competency and diversity considerations.
The greatest value you can pay to a person’s culture is respect and appreciation, therefore as an
executive director is no exception since the community around is the sponsor top the project in
its own way, hence creating an environment that builds sense of inclusivity in the environment
show appreciation (Scheetz, Smalls, Wall & Wilson, 2018). What you talk should also portray
sense of appreciation when you talk positive of that given culture; avoid being included in gossip
spreading rumors negating people’s culture. Of more importance also is appreciating the varying
opinions and responding to them positively with intelligence.

Conclusion.
To sum up, non-profit making organization leadership is a challenging with a lot of
complications as the executive director hired by the board of directors have to create, cultivate
and maintain unique relationships with the volunteers without losing his accountability to the
employer.
