Introduction
The reflection report is prepared on ‘Non-profit organization’. It is prepared with a motive to
gain better knowledge about the NPO and its operation in the current time. It includes the
importance, difficulties and challenges of a NPO. Moreover, it comprises of the challenges I
faced and my learning outcome by developing the module.
NPO Overview
According to my perspective, Non-profit organization is a type of organization that does not
operate with a profit motive. The profit earned by the NPO is used to conduct the business
operation and attaining the set objectives. These are exempted from paying tax as they are
engaged in public services (Course, 209). They earn the goodwill based on their performance
towards the issue. These can be charitable foundations, Religious Groups, Trade Union and
Educational Associations. There are almost 8000 NPO in Ireland including ‘the Rehab group,
‘Concern Worldwide’, ‘University Foundation’ and ‘Child vision based’ (O'Brien, 2011).
Significance
I analyzed that there are numerous NPO with diverse objectives. These can be in the form of
educational, health, sports centers. They act a source of generating employment. Their operations
are similar to a profit based organization. Hence, it develops the need of computer operator,
auditors and other work specialized workers to operate its day to activities.
 Non-profit educational centers promote the individual knowledge and academic level and
thus enhance the overall educational level.
 Non-profit clinics assist the patients by providing them with health facility via opening
hospitals and clinics.
 Day care organization provides the facility to the working parents by offering childcare in
their working hours. Thus, it benefits the whole society.
 Agrarian organizations assist the farmers by promoting policies for their benefit.
Moreover, it helps them in enhancing production by promoting their products. Thus, it
results in improved food production.

 Recreational organization helps in enhancing the contentment among the people by
developing a venue for social purposes. Further, it provides a platform for individuals to
socialize.
 Labor organization supports the labor as they sponsor employee’s rights at a large scale.
 Sport organization fosters sport competition at the national and international level.
Moreover, they promote fair competition and teamwork.
 Retirement trusts favors the old aged retired and disable individuals by providing them
with them with income, as they are unable to sustain themselves. Thus, it offers financial
security to these groups.
 Fraternal organizations provide a platform to the people of similar interest and occupation
by supporting their common goal. Hence, these organizations contributes to the social
well-being and for the public interest and thus lessen the human suffering
Difficulties and Challenges
I analyzed that it faces the difficulty in generating revenue for its operation. It does not attain a
secure future as donations, gifts and grants are not permanent from the donators, foundations and
the government. They face hardship in convincing the parties to invest for their issue. They face
hardship in convincing the parties to invest for their issue. Hence, it develops the challenge of
seeking extra fund, cutting cost and expenses and the risk of operating successfully in the future.
These organizations face efforts in the financial matters. This is due to its management that lacks
in financial expertise. It frames the challenge for the board to recruit fiscal professionals to
conduct its activities of setting budgets and making financial statements.
It runs in the absence of profit motive. Thus, it usually has minimum staff and faces difficulty
attract the staff with inadequate resources. It develops the challenge to offer good salary package
to retain best employees in the absence of profit motive. Moreover, because of the motive of
human welfare, it faces difficulty in generating stable income and accurate budgeting. It
develops a challenge for an organization to reach at the breakeven point to continue operating in
future.
As government is their main supporter, they usually face the pressure to show desired results to
continue receiving grants. It has to demonstrate that it is achieving the objectives. For example,

NPO with an objective of enhancing educational level has to prove that students are learning
from their practices. Hence, it can be shown only by their student’s results but not by the strong
class attendance.
There is enhancement in the issue of poverty, poor education and health. It has increased the
need for their services and thus resulting in enhanced burden faced by NPO. It develops the
challenge of overcoming the wide issues prevailing in the society.
NPO that has been successful in solving the issue thus faces difficulty in achieving demand for
their service. Additionally, it brings a challenge for the organization to scale back or expands its
services in other geographical units.
Learning outcomes
According to my perspective, I learnt that there are numbers of NPO prevailing in Ireland and
gain rough information about their activities. After conducting the module, after conducting the
module, I have come across many famous and renowned NPO. From their analysis, I learnt that
they offer enormous benefits to the public but faces a major issue of finance in their operations.
Moreover, I found it quite easy to gather information about such organization, as they are
transparent in their working. Additionally, I found that an individual could ask for some
information from such organization, as they are public oriented organization.
Conclusion
The reflection report is prepared on the subject NPO. The report includes the significance of the
organization in the present world. I analyzed that it offers many benefits to the individuals and
societies thus play an importing role in the welfare of the society by working against the major
issues prevailing in the countries. In order to conduct its activities, it faces various difficulties
and challenges to operate successfully. Moreover, I realize that it is important to enhance their
numbers as they offer multiple benefits without the profit motive. Hence, as per my viewpoint,
NPO plays an essential role in the development of the society and the country.
