Centre will be given in the report along with future recommendations.
Definition and explanations of Exhibitions and Conferences
A traditional exhibition can be described as the event in which a large scale varieties of
media is used for the promotion of a certain business proposal or company product. Exhibition
also help in improving public relation and maintain the corporate image of a company. Many
companies around the world make use of exhibitions to improve their public image (Henn and
Bathelt 2015). Conference can be defined as the meeting which takes place for a number of days
which is organized by a company to bring around people who are interested in a particular
subject of interest (Vdovichena 2014).
MICE stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions and the four
different parts are conducted in different ways (Rogers and Davidson 2015). The MICE market
can be defined as the special tourism group which focuses on implementing the gathering of a
group of people under one roof. There are a number of components of MICE and the officials of
MICE make sure that the conferences and exhibitions take place in a proper manner. In
Nottingham, the MICE has taken care of a lot of exhibitions and conferences. For example the
Meetings show in Nottingham have been organized by MICE which had many prestigious
organizations from the country (Jones and Li 2015). A lot of exhibitions and meetings in
Nottingham are conducted by MICE.

In MICE the meetings are organized in such a way that it can accommodate a large
number of people and in Nottingham there are presence of a lot of conference and exhibition
Centre. The exhibition centers are designed in such a way along with the various facilities that
proper conferences and meetings can be conducted in them. The Meetings Show which was
conducted by Meet in 2019 following the MICE guidelines was a very successful meeting and it
attracted a lot of people and the venue was highly appreciated for the conduction of the
conference event (Meetinnottingham.co.uk. 2020).
Key purpose
Conferences and exhibitions which have been held in Nottingham have helped it a lot
over the years and a lot of revenue have been generated form the conduction of these conferences
and exhibitions across the various venues in the place. Conferences relating to business, health
and education have been conducted in the place which have attracted a lot of respected and
famous people in the country. The various aspects which have been seen in the place is that the
venues are perfectly settled for the conduction of any kind of conference and exhibitions.
Although there are certain negative impacts on the place regarding the frequent conduction of
meetings and conferences in the various venues across the city. There are presence of high levels
of wastes in the country from the conferences. These wastes are creating a harmful environment
for the various clients who are taking part in the conferences. The hotels which are used for
frequent conferences are unable to provide places to the travelers in the city and hence the
tourism industry are being affected by the conferences.

Some of the major venues in Nottingham for the conduction of meeting and conferences

 Holiday Inn Derby Nottingham: This is a hotel with 92 bedrooms, a total of 11 meeting
rooms and with a maximum capacity of 60 people (Conferences-uk.org.uk 2020).
 Novotel Nottingham Derby: This is a training Centre, hotel as well as a conference Centre
with a total of 110 bedrooms, 11 rooms for meeting and a capacity of holding 250 people.
 Hilton Nottingham: This is a hotel with 176 bedrooms, a total of 8 meeting rooms and
with a maximum capacity of 200 people (Conferences-uk.org.uk 2020).
 De Vere East Midland Conference Centre: This is a very old conference Centre with over
30 years of experience in holding conferences. It can easily accommodate 100 delegated
at a time.
 Holiday Inn South Normanton M1 J28: This is a major conference Centre in Nottingham
and it is also a hotel as well as training Centre. This venue have a total of 163 bedrooms
with 14 meeting rooms as well as a max capacity of 250 people.
 Albert Hall Conference Centre: This is a conference Centre as well as training Centre
with a total of 11 meeting room and with a total capacity of 700 people (Conferences-
uk.org.uk 2020).
 Trent Bridge: This venue is a major conference center in Nottingham as well as sporting
and training center. This venue has a total of 10 meeting room and have a total capacity
of 300 people.
 Mercure Nottingham City Centre Hotel: This hotel has 75 bedrooms, a total of 8 meeting
rooms and can hold a maximum of 120 people in it.
Among all these venues the perfect choice for holding a conference and exhibition will be
De Vere East Midland Conference Centre. It can hold optimum number of people and is very
experienced with holding conferences in the past. In adjacent to the conference Centre there is

Orchard hotel which has 202 bedrooms (Meetinnottingham.co.uk 2020). The conference is
located from 2 miles from Nottingham City Centre and has excellent links of transport by road,
air as well as rail. It is situated very near to East Midlands Airport.
Evaluation of the resources
In 2019, De Vere East Midland Conference Centre held Charity Retail Association
Conference and Exhibition. A total of 50 suppliers were invited to the event and it was the third
time this conference have been held in East Midland Conference Centre. There were presence of
two well-known speakers for hosting the conference event namely, Gal Shivtiel and Jane-Claire
Judson (Charity Retail Association 2020). The event was completed in a time span of two days
in which a total of 30 focus sessions were taken into account. The huge screen present in the
conference hall were used by the event planner to make the viewer understand about the various
ways by the aid of which shopping can be made more fun, steps to motivate people,
implementation and importance of Artificial Intelligence in retail, the future of Charity in coming
five years and others (Charity Retail Association 2020). A number of sponsors were selected for
the event namely Choice, Nisyst, Cybertill, Wil-U, Eproductive and World of Books (Charity
Retail Association 2020). The speakers in the conference presented their presentations in the
giant screen which was clearly visible to all the people attending the conferences. The
conference was help in optimum manner and proper care was taken to ensure that the people
attending the conference are given proper attention and importance. There were presence of
speakers all around the room which aided the visitors to listen to each and every words of the
speakers in a proper way. The space of the conference Centre was also used in a proper way.

Recommendations
The right AV and Technology could have been used for the conference so that the event
could have been made more engaging and interesting to the audiences (Mead and Byers 2015).
The 2019 conference made use of the hotel AV and technology which was not up to the mark
and costly too. Instead of using the hotel AV and technology the event might have made use of
their won technology which would have been much cheaper and given more scope to improve
the interaction of the audiences. To improve the experience of the attendees in the conference
usage of apps such as Bible might have been used by the event planner to ensure that the visitors
might get a clear perspective about the various focus sessions (Mead and Byers 2015). The main
information regarding different sessions might have been explained in the app which would have
given a clear idea to the audience about the nest thing they are going to attend. Some better
sponsors could have been selected by the event planners so that they could have got more budget
for the event and the event could have been conducted in a more sophisticated manner (Jones
2014). With the implementation of proper sponsors the event planner could have included certain
aspects such as better Av and technology in the meetings, providing optimum quality food to the
audiences and also helping them to engage more in the meeting by the aid of the applications in
their cell phones.
Conclusion
To conclude it can be said that East Midland Conference Centre is a very important
conference Centre and if proper steps are taken then it can host a great conference and exhibition
in the future. The following the recommendation in the report it will become a great exhibition
and conference Centre in the future.
