This report presents a statistical analysis of transport data within New South Wales (NSW), focusing on commuter habits and the performance of the transport infrastructure. The study utilizes two datasets: a secondary dataset from the NSW transport system and a primary dataset collected via survey. The analysis encompasses descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, and inferential modeling. Key findings include the most popular modes of transport, the verification of a hypothesis regarding train usage, the traffic counts at different stations, and the relationship between gender and preferred mode of transport. The report uses both numerical and graphical summaries to present the findings, offering insights into potential improvements for the NSW transport system, and answering specific research questions by using Excel, StatKey or Wolfram alpha to display the results. The report also includes a discussion of the data collection methods and potential biases.
