Description & Feelings:
Every nursing staffs have had experienced failure in their career in achieving a proper
goal (Dante et al., 2016). I am a nursing student and in my recent assignment I failed to
achieve the required goal and the following reasons were highlighted the Formatting error,
Grammar error and Criteria and requirements not followed properly. According to me the
reason behind not meeting the requirement may be because of lack of practice and awareness.
Evaluation:
From the failure and comments that have been provided by the assignment markers, I
have retained some positive and some negative points. The Positive thing I figured out was
that I will need to work on the criteria and requirement providing a process in a better way. It
will help me in achieving better knowledge and performing a proper survey for providing
proper treatment. From the assignment, I have gained knowledge about things I need to work
on in order to improve. The Negative portion was that it has affected by academic marks and
an impact on my practice skills.
Analysis & Conclusion:
Academic writing is an act of writing which is used to clarify thoughts and the writing
in one’s own words as an act of creation. Using Gibbs reflective cycle to write one’s views
and experience helps to explain the whole experience in a better and précised manner. And to
obtain a successful result, it is important to follow the appropriate formats and with the
proper concentration in order to avoid any error in the writing (Johns, 2017). From the above
mentioned negative and positive factors, I have come to know my weaknesses and thing I
will have to work on in order to improve my aptitude. There are various causes may be
because of which I failed to achieve my goal and I working on my flaws may help me to
improve. There are a few conclusions that the failure has dragged me to. One was

Negligence; negligence is one of the factors because of which I failed to prepare an effective
assignment and achieve the goal. I have neglected various key points in the assignment and
factors that were important in the assignment. In various points, I have just mentioned their
names and did not explain or elaborate on the topics. It is important to mention as well add
rationale to those points. Next one is Malpractice; the writing and the study I performed was
improper. It totally reflected the lack of practice and knowledge. I did not use any proper
knowledge or information that could clearly define my assignment. The last is Lack of
formatting knowledge; the assignment lacked various formatting errors such as in-texting,
grammar error and incomplete information’s where provided (Johns, 2017) The Gibbs
reflective cycle was not established according to the criteria, as there is a format according to
which the reflective writing is performed. But as the correct format was not followed, the
above mentioned errors took place.
Action Plan:
In order to improve my academic writing skills, I would require to follow a few
strategies. Set Up a Place to Write (Aunurrahman, Hamied & Emilia, 2016) it states that a
proper list should be prepared according to the requirements are needed to be incorporated in
the assignment. It will help me to reduce the chances of missing key points that may be
important to build an effective assignment. Read and Write as Much as Possible (Clarke,
Compton & Sharp, 2017) which states the part of improving my malpractice, for which I will
require a lot of practice and research so that I get the proper knowledge about what and how
much to insert in a specific topic. Use Online Editing and Proofreading Sources (Goodall Jr,
2016), according to this I will have to proofread my assignment before finalizing it. It will
help to recheck to the errors and faults that might have taken place.
