How Nuraphone works
• The headphones plays a range of tones into the ear,
and measures the faint sound the ear generates in
response to the tune.
• This is called the Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) and
is about 10,000 times smaller than the input sound.
• The sound starts at the cochlea and vibrates the ear
drum.
• The speakers are tuned to the OAE using very
sensitive microphones

• The near app creates a hearing profile of the
user, which is a representation of how an
individual hears a sound
• The profiles has a colour, which helps it to be
easily recognized by the user.
• The shape of the profile depicts information
about the relative hearing sensitivity of the
users to different tones
