EVALUATION AND REFLECTION 3
Description
We were asked to conduct an interview with the residents and observe the health issues
and they can be prevented or treated. The prior health issues that were observed are obesity in
females, stress among youth, and other mental health problems. Some major mental illness
includes depression, anxiety, personality disorders, bipolar mood disorder, and eating disorders
(health.vic.gov.au, 2017).
Feeling
Before this experience of taking interview of a community, I was not sure if people will
answer the question, or will it be useful to study the health concern of the society or not. When
interview was conducted, the major factors observed for the issue of mental illness includes
acute and long-term stress; use of drugs and alcohol; biological factors like chemistry, genetics,
and hormones; social factors like financial problems, isolation, family violence, and family
breakdown; and cognitive patterns like low self-esteem, and negative thoughts constantly
(pakenhammedicalclinic, 2018).
Evaluation
The major challenges faced that people were not ready for the interview, and the exact
reason for this issue was not clear. The issue was quite severe, it was not assumed to be so
serious, I thought that the reason may be stress level and bad eating habits in the community, but
various factors were responsible for this issue. The interview from Pakenham metal clinic was

conducted, where actual facts about the mental health issues were observed
(pakenham.starcommunity, 2018).
Analysis
After the experience, I Got to know that the mental illness issues are related to children,
relationships, parents, families, feelings, emotions, and work stress. The health cares are
available where the treatment is provided, nurses or doctors engage the patients in discussion
regarding their lifestyle, history, understand reasons for difficult feeling, and analyse the social
situation. One aspect that I analysed, was that other than doctors psychiatric nurses play an
important role in this issue, they as a consultant-liaison between the patient’s family and
psychiatrist. This involves making patient family understand the complex condition of patient
mental health and they are responsible for planning the treatment for recovery or handle the
condition (work.chron, 2018).
Conclusion
To improve the mental health of residents of Pakenham, the centres have included “GP
health care plan” that is tailored as per patient requirements and decide the best approach to
implement on every particular patient (kidsmatters, 2018).
Action Plan
After experiencing this, I get to understand the relevance of mental wellbeing, and how
these can be handled. After the analysis, the recommended prevention to avoid such illness can
include establishing different centres, other than mental health clinics, centres where the stress of
a person can be managed and reduced. These could include yoga classes, meditation, spa and

consultancies (Gu, Strauss, & Bond, 2015). Family violence is the major reason observed, which
can be handled through family centres. This had changed the way I use to consider this issue
From this experience, I have changed my perspective about the mental health issue, now I
know it is not just about the stress. Other things such as alcohol and family violence can be the
reason for mental illness. This can be treated with the help of doctors and nurses. Most
importantly how the stress reviling activities have due importance in the lives of people.
