The primary aim of this research was to explore the job satisfaction level among
migrant nursing professional that are currently working in the multicultural environment.
Besides, the researchers also aimed to understand the connection between maximum job
satisfaction and the environment of the healthcare setting so that the reason of majority of
migrant nurse’s intention to leave the organization could be determined.
The researchers conducted cross-sectional study within the timeline of June and
December 2012 and in the process migrant nursing professionals with a year of experience and
registered with the Singapore Nursing Board were selected randomly. 600 selected nursing
professional (within that 30% were non-responsive) were assessed depending on three aspects
namely the demographic sheet, practice environment scale–nursing work index–revised and
the Job satisfaction associated questionnaire. After conducting the research in was found that
migratory nurses were moderately satisfied with their work and it was also found that lower
satisfaction levels were associated with the inefficient work environment. However, the job
satisfaction level was not the primary reason for the intention of leave among migratory nurses
and the intention of leave was primarily because of efficiency of nursing professionals whereas,
the second reason of the ineffective working environment.
The future implication of this research would be incorporation of these information in
the recruitment policies of healthcare facilities so that applicants and their concerns could be
easily understood. Migration nurses should be provided with counseling sessions so that

intention of leave could be eliminated and migration nurses will be provided with authority so
that they can contribute in determining effective working environment.

This cross sectional study was conducted to determine the quality working environment,
workload and the effect of these on the intention of leave among Portuguese nursing
professionals. The research further aimed to continue the findings of 12 country registered
nurse forecasting so that reason of increased workload and associated patients mortality and
healthcare professionals resignations could be identified.
This research continued the previous research in which cross sectional study was
conducted to understand the connection between all these factors and then collected data from
October 2013 and April 2014. In the study, total 2235 nursing professionals selected from 144
nursing units in 38 Portuguese hospital and total 76.9% responses were collected. The findings
were collected using several instruments such as intention to leave, the feature of the healthcare
facilities in retaining healthcare professionals. The findings indicated that 40% of the female
nursing professionals were dissatisfied to the healthcare facility and were intended to leave the
job. Further, the 91% of nursing professionals said that healthcare facility did not offered then
proper promotions and 87% lacked the career development scope. However, the rate of intention
to leave were higher in nursing professionals that acquired specialized nursing skills than non-

skilled nursing professionals as they had opportunities for better healthcare facilities within or
outside the country.
The future implication of these studies was associated to making contribution in
retention, development and satisfying the healthcare professionals so that quality and safety
could be reinforced in the care process and they could be provided with better career options to
reduce the rate of dissatisfaction.

events for the nursing professionals undergoing the process and named it as an uprooting
experience. The primary purpose of this research was to understand the level of acculturation
among the international nursing professionals working in a multicultural society and workplace.
Further, it also aimed to examine the relationship between the acculturation, the quality of life of
nursing professionals and their working environment.
In order to understand these connections, the researchers conducted a cross sectional
study and included the self-report associated questionnaire with 814 international nursing
professionals. Data collection was done from two different tertiary healthcare institutes with
comprehensive medication facilities. The researchers directly met all the participants while their
