Introduction
E-portfolio is an evolving online or electronic resource that records, stores and
archives the artefacts of learning as well as reflection of an individual (Vance, Burford,
Shapiro & Price, 2017). It is useful in demonstrating the professional and personal growth of
a person. The purpose of making an e-portfolio is to facilitate the holistic integration of
individual assessment item and the e-portfolio I am planning to develop, will clearly present
the competencies as well as my goals which I intend to implement as a clinical nurse
specialist in paediatric.
Description
Before including the evidences in the e-portfolio, it is important to select the platform
to create. While developing e-portfolio OPResume will be chosen which is an online resume
and portfolio website and it is easy to use also. The main area of expertise and subject will be
included in the e-portfolio. The artefacts will present my degree of understanding as well as
knowledge in the area. It will consist of a table of content so that reader can get an initial
overview. The portfolio will include personal details as well as career related experiences,
qualification and education, present position and other details. Additionally, it will present
career goals and practice scope statement focussing my commitment to professional
advancement. There will be an appendix section at the end to present the documents and
artefacts as evidence to support the information stated earlier.
Feeling
After the completion of my graduation as clinical nurse specialist in paediatric I
expect to get a position of RN in a hospital and I feel the e-portfolio will serve to meet the
performance requirement, set by an employer. During the development I need to ask several

questions to myself to gather information about how the artefacts will be defining evidence of
successful performance and portray my reflective practice development. Précising the useful
information is quite challenging but the positive aspect is, while gathering the information I
will also aware of my performance throughout.
Analysis
According to Wakimoto & Lewis, (2014), e-portfolio is a professional development
tool and students’ use it as an important element for job searching and career development.
An online e-portfolio always showcases the skill to work with potential employers. Literature
indicates that e-portfolio can represent the authentic means of assessing reflective, cognitive
as well as affective skills (Green, Wyllie & Jackson, 2014). Even, the records and evidence of
skill presented in the e-portfolio helps employers to access the information and scrutinize
them easily which helps nursing students as well (Green, Wyllie & Jackson, 2014). The
strategies of developing e-portfolio represent the curriculum skill of the developer and it also
attracts the employers (Strampel & Lewis, 2016). The e-portfolio we are developing will
follow systematic way to reflect the artefacts.
Conclusion
Developing an e-portfolio can be difficult while selecting the artefacts to include.
Making it an attractive one for the employers will also be quite challenging. However, proper
strategies will be followed to make relevant for career development.
Action Plan
While developing the e-portfolio I will take the suggestion from the mentor to make it
more effective as well as attractive for the employers. I am focussed to complete the e-

portfolio within a week. The knowledge will also assist me in future while working
