AI Summary
This project addresses the critical issue of stress among nurses, recognizing the demanding nature of their profession and the impact on their well-being. The student proposes the application of Neuman's System Model to develop a comprehensive implementation plan. The plan includes conducting interviews to understand nurses' perceptions of their work environment, examining nurse-patient relationships, and performing physical health assessments to identify stressors. The project outlines preventive measures and step-by-step interventions, focusing on patient and nurse safety, information systems, communication strategies, and health education programs. The project also considers administrative policies and ethical considerations, ensuring alignment with nursing ethics and promoting optimal wellness. The project aims to provide a practical framework for managing and mitigating stress in nurses, ultimately improving their ability to provide quality patient care.

STRESS IN NURSES
Pre- implementation section
Following the increased levels of stress witnessed among the nurses, I would make use of the Neuman`s
system model to deal with the problem of stress in nurses. Although they undergo a lot of pressure to in
their daily activities, the situation can be dealt with if the right implementation plans are put in place to
change the situation. Neuman`s theory offers a system based approach and comprehensive holistic
approach which allows flexibility when dealing with stressors in nursing. In addition, the system focuses
on accessing the response of the patient and its capability to response to both the potential and actual
stressors resulting from environmental factors (Jacob, 2018). It also focuses on nursing intervention and
prevention measures from both primary and secondary levels thus promoting wellness of the nurses.
Some of the activities needed in applying the theory in the context of nurses in order to make the theory
into practice include the following; conducting interview among the nurses so as to establish their
general perception about the working environment they work. This would make it more effective for
them to share some of the stressors that they face both from both external and internal environment
that they work in. This would be effective in helping unravel the stress areas that they have and also to
be in a position of establishing their areas of health concern ( Batalla et al ,2019). Another activity in the
implementation plan would be examining the relationship between the nurses and their patients to
determine whether it has been a good one or whether there are challenges that hinder good
relationship between nurses and patients. Another crucial activity would be physical examination of the
nurses’ health to determine whether they have been having challenges with their health such as
traumatic experiences and other stress related illnesses. This would be crucial in examining which
dimension of the model would best suite their challenges. Also the process would involve coming up
with possible preventive measures that can make the interventions to the trigger of stress in nursing
either from primary or secondary triggers.
In order for these change oriented activities to work effectively I would come up with a plan that would
involve step by step intervention to the issue of stress in nurses. The plan for implementing these
activities would give an account of how the anticipated activities would occur concurrently and help
nurses cope with stress. In the initial process, the plan of the above activities would focus on promoting
the safety of the patient and nurses. Under this context, the plan would involve use of intervention
measures to determine how best nurses can be subjected to good environment that does undermine
their safety. For instance, the nurses can achieve this by making use of the model to understand the
environmental forces that are likely to pose risk to their safety from both external and internal
environment. With the use of the above model, all the possible risks would be identified and a
comprehensive viewpoint suggested promoting safety of the nurses ( Hanna, 2019).
In this plan the cause of stress in nurses would also be addressed from the perspective of information
systems. This plan would involve investigating the source of information that reaches nurses in
workplace to ensure that it comes from a verified source. This would prevent spreading of

misinformation and fake news that are likely to disrupt the psychological perspective of the nurses thus
making them not cater for their patients` needs (Turner & Kaylor,2015). The plan would also entail
educating the nurses on how to communicate their needs instead of keep quiet on critical matters that
can affect them.
In regard to health literacy problem, the model would establish a health education programs and
seminars for nurses and the patients to make them familiar with emerging trends in nursing sector.
Through these programs the nurses would be equipped with the information on how to relate with their
patients and among themselves. Also, the education programs would educate the nurses on various
challenges they are likely to occur in internal, external, interpersonal and extra-personal stressors which
are the forces behind the increase of stress among nurses (Sexton, 2019).
Neuman`s system model would also be fit for solving problems that are connected to administrative
policies. In this context, administrative polices are those that are associated with the policies that are
formulated by the institutions to guide them in coming up with a strategy to run the institution. The
model would formulate primary prevention to these problems by offering better mechanisms to adapt
to the policies and be able to cope with them without affecting them physiologically. In the context of
ethical considerations, the plan would formulate ways of responding to stressors while putting into
consideration of all variables. The plan would consider the perception of nurses as well as their optimal
wellness (Smith & Parker, 2015).The plan would ensure that all ethical considerations are put in place so
that there is no conflict between the model and nursing ethics. This would be achieved by making nurses
familiar with their professional ethics like justice, autonomy and justice.
