Scholarly Activity Summary
Overview
The world congress on advanced nursing and nursing practice is an annual educational
conference which creates emphasis on the research that is directed towards the impact on the
clinical practice and the outcomes of advanced nursing. I attended the 50th conference whose
main theme was the challenges encountered during nursing care and nursing management. This
conference targets nursing lecturers, practitioners, scientists, healthcare and pharmaceutical
industries, medical manufacturers, public health specialists, primary and community healthcare
specialists, data management companies and family medicine specialists. This conference is of
benefit to me because I got hear about the latest research and also got to position myself as an
expert in the nursing field.
Problem
One challenge faced by the nursing industry is lack of interprofessional collaboration. This may
be due to poor communication channels or even lack of proper coordination (O'connor et al.
2016). This problem faces nursing staff and even manufacturers of medical supplies. Lack of
interprofessional collaboration has undermined the success of medical practitioners in fulfilling
their duty of advocating and caring for patients. The nursing industry also requires evidence-
based initiatives that can be applied in day to day practices. This conference therefore seeks to
discuss quality plans that can be used by healthcare providers to improve outcomes. By
participating in this conference, nurses would understand the essence of collaboration at
workplace as well as gain new insights on the latest evidence-based practices that can be used.

To enhance collaboration, proper channels of communication must be put in place. This is to
ensure that there is proper planning, and organization so as to be able to address key issues the
visions and goals of the organization. Also the challenges for quality initiatives to meet
measurable targets in key areas within the healthcare industry can be addressed using quality
data and measurement to change the practice (Mossialos, Wenzl, Osborn, & Sarnak, 2016). This
can be achieved by using the current technological advancements and equipments.
Opportunity
Through the presentations, workshops, panel and roundtable discussions, the conference covered
the global macro issues to strategies and tactical issues that can be used by every individual in
the conference. At the end of the conference, I was able to master the complexities of nursing
care and the current advanced technologies in nursing. I also learnt that as a nurse, I should be
able to effectively manage stress and work in collaboration with other team members so as to
boost the morale of other team members.
Program Competencies Addressed
All nurses must be able to work in a collaborative environment so as to deliver better patient
outcomes as well as prevent potential medical errors. Collaboration is also essential in closing
communication gaps and enabling comprehensive patient care. Being up to date with the current
technological advancements is necessary in strengthening the interactions between patients and
healthcare providers, enhancing patient safety as well as improving the standards of care. It is
important to note that new quality initiatives will prevent pharmaceutical companies and
healthcare industries to reduce the costs associated with failures, redundancy, errors and poor
outcomes.
