Demonstration of Nursing’s metaparadigm

Nursing’s metaparadigm is comprised of four major concepts which are basic and interrelated
to each other. It is comprised of theories that gives detailed information regarding
disciplinary function. The domains of nursing profession mainly address the person or a
patient, Patient’s well-being and health, environment and nursing interventions. There are
different theories that describe all the concepts according to experience, orientation and other
factors. Metaparadigm provides a detailed structure with regard to functioning and discipline
associated with nursing profession. Each domain exhibits core competencies that are
interrelated with personal, communication skills and for professional development. The

competencies of all domains comprised of different components for example skills, ability,
value and knowledge. Training is recommended by implementing educational related
workshops that would benefit the nurses to become competent. Nurses should maintain
professionalism at work places by implementation of all concepts of metaparadigm. The
purpose of theories in nursing is to improve the health of patients by providing clinical
evidence based decisions obtained through research.

In addition to the above mentioned four domains of nursing there are other possible
recommendations that are required to be considered under metaparadigm. They include
research and leadership. It is important to follow the principles and procedures related with
nursing profession by using evidence related sources in order to make decisions related
associated with clinical practices. Research studies should use pedagogical approach to
provide clinical evidences. Leadership is another domain should be considered for achieving
goals related with clinical decisions and organization. Leadership is important for clinical
practices, healthcare, professionalism in nursing and health related policies.
