AI Summary
This assignment explores the crucial aspects of decision-making in nursing, focusing on the components and models that enhance the quality of decisions made by healthcare professionals. The report identifies key components such as recognizing the problem, gathering information, evaluating solutions, selecting the best approach, and reviewing decisions. It also highlights two important models: the Vroom-Yetton-Jago model, which helps in understanding the timeline of decisions, and the OODA Loop model, which improves the decision-making process through observation, orientation, decision, and action. The assignment emphasizes the practical application of these components and models to improve patient care and overall healthcare outcomes. References to relevant research are included to support the analysis.

Introduction
The paper will discuss the components used by managers and leaders for making
effective decisions. It will also demonstrate the two models for improving the quality of the
decision-making process.
Main context
The components that should be useful for managers and leaders are as follows:
Recognition and identification of problem- The nurses should identify the patient’s issue
correctly before taking any decision (Bouwmans, Runhaar, Wesselink & Mulder, 2017)
Looking for the answer- Communicating with the patient regarding their health problems
to collect the answers and their need
Evaluate the alternative solutions and answers- Evaluating all the solutions and its
strengths and weakness over patient’s health
Selection and implementation of the solution- The best solution has to be chosen that can
reduce patient’s health problems
Reviewing the decisions- Decisions should be reviewed more than twice (Bouwmans,
Runhaar, Wesselink & Mulder, 2017)
The two models that should be used by the managers and leaders are:
The Vroom-Yetton-Jago Decision model
The model is based on three factors such as decision quality, time constraints and
subordinate commitment. This model helps the nurses to understand the appropriate decision that
needs to be taken considering the timeline (Lührs, Jager, Challies & Newig, 2018).
The OODA Loop Model
This model is based on four stages such as observe, decide, orient and act. For example,
the model allows nurses to show their personal orientation that helps in improving their decision-
making process (Lührs, Jager, Challies & Newig, 2018).
