INTRODUCTION
Nursing is a job that anyone rarely is unaware of and nursing a profession that is not
limited to anything and there is no particular and static answer about what nurses do. However
one thing is static and fixed that is nurses holds health care journey of patients together and
ensuring that their all needs gets fulfilled on time. Nurses are not limited to patients in their
services they are also playing important role in public health by ensuring accurate diagnosis to
ongoing education of public in critical health issue and nurses are crucial for safeguarding public
health.
MAIN BODY
Every person willing to become nurse has their own journey and so have I. concerned
with the moment when I realised to be nurse or I would say that the time when I started and
dreamed of being a nurse is early childhood and some of the memories that are centralise
profession of nursing. This was the time I realised that I also someday wish to be a nurse. I also
have witnessed many of the nurses involved in community activities and social work that
enhanced the image of nursing profession in my mind and I decided to be a nurse. My experience
associated with nursing and profession has always been very positive and something more than
positive as I witnessed involved into some of the activities that were for social purposes and were
aimed at enhancing health of public. It was the time when I saw some of the staff engaged in
enhancing awareness about the health in public and there they were using their knowledge for
more than what is limited to patient care and this made a very positive and favourable impact on
me. Concerned with early childhood my experience is related to patient care. This is time when I

was patient and in need of care and get to interact with nursing staff and services and the
experience was positive and because of this from childhood my perception towards nursing was
positive. This is the time that I realised that I want to be a nurse, however while growing up my
experience with nursing services and staff enhanced and my decision became more firm to be a
nurse.
This experience that is had were all good, positive and my feeling were always that in
childhood my experience and feelings were that nurses are good. However the experience when I
grown up changed into the respect for nursing profession along with the nurses. One of the
reasons that I felt good was that my experience associated with the profession and professionals
were positive and pleasant, however this is not the only reason. Another reason that this made me
feels good was that I was during my school involved in some of the social and community
activities and was always concerned about health and care and nursing profession was also about
that and this is another reason these experience and decision of becoming a nurse make me feel
good.
Concerned with shared beliefs and values of nurses, it is considerable that core values of
nursing are shared by nurses and concerned with individual beliefs and values of nurses towards
their profession can be different that might not be shared beliefs and values. The core beliefs and
values of nursing that are shared by all nurses are altruism, this is concerned with selfless
concern of nurses towards patient care. Autonomy, this is concerned with allowing patient and
care takers to self govern when they are able to do so. Human dignity, it is concerned with
maintaining dignity of those who are need of care and support from nurses. Integrity, honesty
and social justice are some other beliefs and values that are core for the profession of nursing.
These are some of the beliefs and values that are shared by all nurses.

My life experiences that I have had I believe they will definitely help me in becoming a
better nurse. This reason for this belief is that my life experiences related to nursing were all
good and reflected a ideal nursing behaviour and attitude. This will help me in determination of
my right behaviour and attitude as a nurse. This involved soft and patient cantered behaviour that
differs on the basis of each patient a nurse interact with. For example, behaviour and attitude of a
nurse might differ when they are interacting with an adult and this can be different when they are
interacting with a child. This is how the experience I believe will help me in becoming a better
nurse having all the right values and belief. Other than this enhancing viewpoint as nurse from
patient centre care to public health and keeping the health and care above all other rules and
norms is what I learn from my experiences and believe these are some good examples of how
and what a nurse should be.
Becoming a nurse requires considering many things and one of them can be this
reflection as this reflection involves everything that are related to me life and my choice of
becoming a nurse and what made me become a nurse. This reflection enhanced my
determination to become a nurse and nurse the way I always appreciated a nurse. This also
helped in understanding what is good nurse and what priorities should a person have when they
are considering to be a nurse. This reflection also included some of the core beliefs and values
that nursing have and helped me in understanding what are the values and beliefs on which my
profession is based and make it better. it is important to have these shared beliefs and values
because they guide a general nursing behaviour that needs to be adopted and applied in all
situations of nursing. This reflection also included what kind of behaviour I like as a nurse that I
have experienced and this behaviour is based some of the individual values and beliefs that
nurses have and this suggest me to have some individual beliefs as well.
