Question 1:
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are also known as the global goals that aims to
reduce or end poverty and also ensures that each and every individual might live their life with
peace and prosperity.
The SDG goals have several goals that help in improving the health condition of the
individuals well as allows them to live a quality life. This initiatives is taken by the government
of the United Nations in order to replace the millennium success goals. In the SDG, there are
total 17 goals that aims to improve the standard of life. These Sustainable Development Goals
which include, no poverty among the population, zero hunger, good well-being, quality
education, gender equality, clean sanitation along with water, clean and affordable energy,
decent work and economic growth, innovation, industry and the infrastructure, reduced
inequalities, sustainable communities, responsible consumption along with production, climate
action, life beneath the water and on the land, justice and peace, and partnership for the enhanced
achievement of the goals (UNDP, 2019).
In order to achieve the goals, the nurses also play an important role. The 3rd SDG goals
which is ensuring the health and wellbeing of each and every individual, consist major role in it.
3rd goal of the SDG among all the goals have direct impression of the nurse’s action. However,
the way of delivering work by nurse also has a major impact on the poverty and education which
are also considered as the social health determinants (SDH). During providing care to the patient
in order to enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of the patient, the nurse also addresses the
social determinants of the health as they know the relation between the condition of the
population and their health (Rosa, 2017). One of the main principle of the nursing which is to
enhance the health outcome of the population, is one of the 17 goals of the SDG and as

mentioned above nurse also ensures the right procedure to do things that might help the
individual and the community to achieve SDG goals.
Question 2:
According to Aacnnursing.org (2019), there are shortage of nurses in the healthcare
setting in United States. The number of registered nurse id decreasing exponentially which is
posing negative impact on the health of the individual. The shortage of nurse has been observed
in the country due to several factors which include, high turnover of thee skilled nurse either due
to the retirement or due to low pay scale according to the amount of work they have to do. In
addition, to these, there are also lack of skilled and knowledgeable doctors that can provide
better care to the patient. as, the shortage of nurses is having negative impact on the health of the
individual, hence in order to meet the demand of the nurse, the health care organizations recruits
foreign nurses.
However, by observing the reason behind the shortage of the nurses in the health care
setting, it can be stated that, if United States and other industrial nations will use their resources
in order to fix the problems, the shortage of the nurses will be reduced and hence they would not
have to recruit foreign nurses. They should focus on the schools and the colleges, in order to
enhance the learning and skills of the nurses so that they can provide enhanced patient care and
improved health outcomes (Nantsupawat et al., 2017). Apart from that, the nation should provide
appropriate salary to the nurse, so that they remain motivated and should not leave their job.
Question 3:
According to CDC (2019), diabetes in one of the global health disease and is among the
chief cause behind the death rate of the population, as diabetes if not treated properly, it might

lead to the another chronic life threatening illness. From the statistics provide by the diabetes, it
is observed that around 30.3 million of the total population, which is 9.4% of the total inhabitants
of the united states of any age have been suffering from diabetes in the year 2015. Out of the
total diabetic population, 30.2 million (12.2% of the US adults) is of either 18 years or above, out
of which 7,2 million, which is 23.8% have undiagnosed diabetics. Total number of the
population whose diabetic has been increased with age is 25.2% which belong to age group of 65
years and above.
According to American Diabetes Association. (2018), there are certain risk factors such
as environmental factors, unhealthy diet, age, gender, family history and others. If the risk
factors are reduced with the help of evidence based practice. Evidence based practice provides
one of the most effective way to prevent diabetes. If not prevented, it can be controlled to the
prevent diabetes by number of treatments such as, healthy eating, involving in physical activities,
medication and regular assessment of the Blood glucose level (CDC, 2019).
