1SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH
Introduction
Both the services of nursing practices and medical practices fail with problems.
However, both the practices have governing bodies to carry out a smooth nursing service but
fail to fulfill all the required demands.
Problems in Nursing Practice vs Medical Practice
These days nursing practices are facing challenges due to the shortage of registered
nurses. Shortages of Registered Nurses are due to over population of senior and skillful
nurses, which now states that, more than 50 percent of registered nurses are aged more than
50 which shows a serious crisis in the coming ten years.
On the other hand, medical practices by registered physicians face other issues
regarding policies and ethical guideline, dilemma during diagnosis, charts and record keeping
and fulfilling the patient demands.
The prime factor which impacts the delivery by a medical practitioner is the policies
under which they practice and the ethical guidelines. The terms often lead to delayed health
care which makes them inefficient in reaching out the demands of the patients, which
sometimes may lead to the death of the patients (Rachiotis et al., 2014).
Importance of Ensuring PICOT
PICOT stands for P: population, I: Intervention, C: Comparison, O: Outcome and T:
Time frame.
In case of nursing practice ensuring goal achievement for a patient is very necessary
and hence the formation of PICOT is necessary. PICOT helps in understanding the
population one needs to work with and thus helps in developing an intervention for them

within a proper time frame. Moreover, it helps in comparing the present cases with those
which had happened in the past (Riva et al., 2012).
Conclusion
Therefor it can be concluded, that the frontline services which might show a positive
impact on patient health needs proper care in policy management and requires help regarding
their proper continuity.
