Description
For this debate, we had to work in a team in order to talk against the medical use of
marijuana in Australia for the individual suffering from chronic illness. While other person
where debating in the favour of the medical use of marijuana. The debate involves collaborative
work of different individuals where they represent their own idea and view about the use of
marijuana. I was involved in team work and have to display personal thoughts and concepts. I
prepared the debate with other member in the team where I faced various challenges. I was not
comfortable in working as a team, however, I tried to be competent in the work. Some of the
members in the team were not supportive to me and were trying to pull me down. However, one
of the member motivate and encouraged me hence, I tried to overcome the hurdles and prepared
my debate with full efficacy and executed it with perfection
Feeling
Working in a team was a big challenge for me. I was nervous and low in confidence and
at the same time I was clueless regarding ways to interact with them. I was feeling that I would
not be able to execute my debate with accuracy because I am less assertive in behaviour.
However, I also felt collaborative work is important aspect for nursing practice hence, I
motivated myself to work best in a team.
Evaluation
From my experience of working in a team, I evaluated that I lack leadership quality and
confidence which are the essential component in collaborative relationship. My team member
has supported me to perform well in the debate, due to which I was able to prepare and execute
work well in the team work. However, other team member tried to pull me down by negative

comments which has lowered my self-esteem and self-confidence. My self-evaluation say that I
get easily influenced with other person which have negative impact on my mental status.
Analysis
According to the study of McComb et al. (2017) teamwork is built on the pillar of trust
and collaboration helps to solve difficult problems. It is the best platform for working where one
can exchange their ideas. Therefore, I have analysed that by the support of some of the members
I was able to prepare my debate well and exchange the pertinent ideas. It is also stated in the
work of McInnes et al. (2015) collaborative work help in gaining confidence and self-esteem.
From my experience, I can say that though I have faced many challenges in collaborative work,
but at the same time it has helped me deliver my work and thoughts regarding the use of
marijuana with perfection. Initially, I was not able not to cope with other person and manage my
shortcoming which says that I lack leadership quality. The study of Morley and Cashell (2017)
has highlighted that importance of leadership quality in collaborative work. Therefore, I need to
work on the weak areas to become competent nurse.
Conclusion
From the discussion, it can be said that team work or collaborative work is the important
aspect in nursing practice and should be undertaken by every member. It helps to develop trust
and healthy relationship which also assist in gaining confidence and self-esteem. It help to work
efficiently, promote collaboration and commitment. Through collaborative work and support by
the team member has led me to deliver my speech with full confidence. However, I lack in some
of the area, I have poor communication skill and less assertive attitude, took time to get indulge
in the team collaborative work.
