My philosophy of nursing practice
Nursing goal is to provide the safe as well as caring environment so that well-being and
health can be promoted to the patients. Philosophy of a nurse depends on promoting healing,
health and hope, so that care can be spread to the people when they will need (Ratanasiripong et
al. 2015). A nurse should have the strong interpersonal skill for enhancing the positive
environment in the hospital. Integrity is being considered as the core value a nurse should have
(Ortiz 2016). As per my understanding, dignify as well as morality are the essential behavioural
characteristics which make a person an ideal nurse. I believe, ethnicities, ideas and values are
essential for providing healthy environment to the patients. As per my understanding, in order to
make smile of others face, inspiring others is very important characteristic I should adopt. I aim
to empower my values so that I can establish myself as a good nurse.

In the words of AL-Sagarat et al. (2015), the nursing profession is the strenuous job that
can be influenced negatively by occupational stress. I believe, due to my fear in communicating
with the strangers can bring challenges while performing my job (van der Riet, Levett-Jones and
Aquino-Russell 2018). Job-related stress can influence the loss of compassion for my patients
that can create the practice errors of mine. On the other hand, due to the communication issues,
information sharing from one nurse to another about the patient while handover the
responsibilities can bring a negative impact on my career.
I also believe, lack of critical thinking ability can cause stress in the profession.
Sometimes I worry about asking the questions to my seniors, which create challenges for me to
understand my responsibilities. Critical thinking ability can be able to gradually develop
recognizing the changes in patient condition (Mazhindu et al. 2016).
Due to a lack of confidence, I believe, it can drive me towards searching for safe nursing
practices. As a result, the performance quality of mine can be affected. I think, lack of self-
confidence of mine can become the primary concern for providing safety to the patients. In this
situation, not only my career graph will get affected, but also it can drive a negative impact on
my personality. Due to my short temper, violence can be created by me, which can make a
negative impression on the patients' mind. In order to deal with my weaknesses, I can focus on
adopting the below strategies
1. Attend, listen and practice handover for improving speaking ability
2. Ask questions to enhance critical thinking for enhancing critical thinking ability
3. Attend education and in-service sessions to developing knowledge

I have identified that miscommunication between the staff members in the healthcare
organizations influences 70% of an adverse situation (Lin et al. 2016). I cannot deny that I feel
shy while interacting with strangers. Due to the lack of confidence of mine, I face failure while
communicating with people. I believe, by attending, listening and practising handover, my ability
for handling the pressure will increase, which will increase my confidence for handling the
situation. Being a graduate, I believe, seniors of mine will be able to understand my situation and
will provide me with useful feedback. In every handover, I will learn from my mistakes, which
will help me to be a good communicator.
Ask questions to enhance critical thinking
I believe, in order to improve my critical thinking skill, asking questions can be
beneficial. My seniors are working in this profession from more than five years, which has made
them organize and attentive. I believe, in order to bring progress in my skills, rather than
struggling saliently, I need to ask my seniors my skills can be improved. I believe, it can help me
to improve my critical thinking skills, which will provide a stepping stone on my career graph
(Mazhindu et al. 2016).
Attend education and in-service sessions
By attending deferent service and educational sessions, new skills and knowledge can be
developed. I believe, learning is the crucial component, which can help to develop a strong
nursing career. Attending in-service sessions and educational sessions, I will be able to develop
my self-confidence and critical thinking skills of mine (Resnicoff and Julliard, 2018).
