1REFLECTION
Walden University is an institution which has since 40 years provided learning challenges
and experiences for working professionals. Walden has a vision which envisions knowledge as
worthy to a degree where it can be implemented in critical societal challenges. They have a
mission to convert themselves into scholar-practitioners to implement positive social changes.
They have certain goals which are to provide their best and implement them in the society
(Walden University, 2018).
I have been in the nursing career for more than 5 years. I am now very much interested in
the field of nursing as I progress and develop my skills around each year. I have been inspired by
the Walden University’s vision, mission, goals, and social change. I have a goal which is to be
active for a long duration in the field of professional nursing manager with specialization in
pediatric critical area. However, to achieve that I need more experience in the field of nursing
and have to move forward and have progress on my degree. I have been looking for institutions
that would help me in fulfilling my wish but later after few months I came in touch with Walden
University. I started investigating about the university by interacting with its nursing students
and staff members. I started studying its degree. Walden University is a university that is strict
with its morals, vision, and mission. It inspired me as Walden University had the same wishes
which I inspired and was pursuing. Walden mission and mission started resonating within me. I
had the realization that I took the right decision. The statements of vision and mission stated by
the school of nursing of Walden University also defined the same what I felt and thought yet
could not reveal it in words.
I had a dream that after I become a senior nursing manager I would implement my skills
and ideas into the promotion of value, self-respect, and improvement of beings, communities,
administrations and societies. I also aim to improve my skills and develop the organizational

surrounding where I will be working. Moreover, there are two outcomes of Walden University
which attracted my attention towards it, first was “demonstrate a commitment to lifelong
learning” and second outcome was “utilize knowledge to positively impact profession,
communities, and in society” (Walden University, 2018). I want to carry on developing my
knowledge over the life of my profession. I also consider in using this understanding and
experience to positively influence others in all phases of healthcare.
I approve Walden University’s perspective of social change which is to assist social
change with the improvement of principled knowledgeable and moral social-practitioners, which
will become local and specialized inspiration by proceeding with the betterment of society
(Walden University, 2018). I plan in incorporating these social changes into my profession by
implementing past life work experiences and the knowledge which I will be gaining from the
Walden School of nursing to become a better specialized role model for my patients, colleagues
and the community.
I only hope that my past job experiences, my current knowledge and the
knowledge which I will receive from Walden University, will help in becoming a professional
nursing manager with specialization in pediatric critical area.
