1NURSING ASSIGNMENT
Answer 1) Nursing as a field is considered to lack a self-governing body of information and
knowledge, as nursing is completely portrayed from medicine. Whereas, On the other hand,
medicine established a high professional status because medicine headed nursing and
therefore had claimed complete ownership on the medicinal knowledge. Hence, it would be
true to say and comment that equating status with authority will lead to confusion among the
nursing profession, as it would hamper the method of service delivery instead of focusing on
maintain a good level of professionalism (Paradise, 2015). The primary objective of being a
good healthcare professional or nurse is to make sure that they provide enhanced service
delivery and maintain professionalism by treating each and every patient under equal status
and authority.
High professional status plays no role in improving or enhancing the healthcare
service delivery but is only considered as prestigious with no role in healthcare. Hence,
equating the status will create or lead to confusion as compared to professional authority.
Professional authority comprise of relative autonomy, political and intellectual influence,
respect and power, which is crucial for the nurse to provide highly distinctive service to every
patient. Hence, this confusion will lead to reporting structure issue whereas the sustained
practice of professionalism will cause disobedience and professional anticompetitive
practices to flourish. The nurses should be granted a higher professional status, as status is
related with superior authority and power, which means that nurses will be capable to
incorporate evidence-based practice and research findings within their domain and offer best
patient care (Rifkin, 2018).
Answer 2) As a professional nurse, I can utilize different ways to help or reach out to the
people who lack efficient access or have completely no access towards any healthcare reform.
The people residing in the rural or backward areas lack proper education or knowledge on
utilizing different healthcare resources and enhance the healthcare service delivery. The

primary step adopted by me, as a professional nurse, will be to offer or suggest community-
based precautionary healthcare service that will aim at shortening the outburst of avoidable
healthcare diseases. This objective can be easily achieved by using satellite clinics. Using this
satellite clinic the delivery of preventable health and primary care services will be enhanced
and the nurses could help the rural residents to live a healthy and quality lives (Orszag, 2016).
The second strategy will be support the institution of the perpetual federal reinsurance
program that will help the patients to protect themselves from high insurance claims and
manage their treatment according to their income. I will also encourage and motivate the
innovation of healthcare services within the state by establishing telehealth facility.
Telehealth facility is considered as a cost-effective, reliable and essential method of
expanding proper healthcare system within the areas of geographic and specialty shortages
and disparities (Braithwaite et al., 2016). Lastly, as a professional nurse I will try to visit few
rural areas and educate the residents regarding the benefits of mobile technology for better
access towards healthcare facility and how they can visit the mobile healthcare clinics to
convey their health issue and receive treatment according to their health benefit.
