Nurse sensitive indicators are referred to as different aspects of nursing which assists in patient
care. The nurse sensitive indicators are structure, then process and finally the outcome. Structure
indicators deals with the supply of different nursing staff and education of the nursing staff. Process
indicators includes patient assessment and intervention. Different nursing indicators that can be applied
in bedside nursing practice are patient assessment with the help of pain management and patient
satisfaction with the overall patient care (Heslop & Lu, 2014).
Bedside nursing practice is referred to as the overall care of the patient. These nursing indicators
assist nurse to take the proper care of the patient. Bedside nursing practice can be improvised by
measuring these indicators. Nurses do not stay bedside for the variety of patient which is one of the
reason of patient health deterioration. Hence, with the help of structure indicators, nursing staff should
be educated and awareness regarding the importance of bedside nursing practice is created among them.
Process indicators helps in the patient assessment and intervention, which is required in the bedside
nursing care (Gregory et al., 2014). It is important for the bedside nurse to assess the patient correctly
and suggest intervention based on that to improve the mental and physical well-being of the patient.
Nurse play an important role in the improving the health outcome of the patient. In order to get
the effective result, nurse should use different sensitive indicators such as, overall care of the patient,
assessing the patient and many others (Oliver et al., 2014). Patient’s health outcome depends upon the
quantity and quality of nursing care such as falls risk or pressure ulcer.

also helps in improving transparency among the health care organization, so that patient can chose the
quality health care service. Transparency in health care organization makes it more reliable for the

patient to choose according to their comfort. There are certain advantages of the health care transparency
such as, it helps to know where the health organization stands. Transparency also helps in identifying the
advantages and disadvantages of the healthcare organization. It helps in getting information regarding
the advancement of the health care organization and how does it helps in the treatment of the patient. It
also helps in the identification of special service of the healthcare organization which provides
advantage over healthcare organization (Albrecht, Pramann & von Jan, 2014). Apart from the
advantages it has certain disadvantages also such as, it is complicated to locate the price, and another
disadvantages is the exchange of incomplete information.
In order to maintain the transparency, certain facts and figures are to be made available to the public
such as, death prevalence rate, price transparency, quality health care services provided by the
organization, recovery rate of patient of each disorder or illness. With the help of these data, individual
might choose for the health care services (Campanale, Cinquini & Tenucci, 2014).
Nursing care data should also be collected in order to assess the quality of nursing care. If the nursing
care data is below the expected level, it should be improvised by the nurse in order to get improve the
heath outcomes of the patient (Oliver et al., 2014).
