Leadership score rating and a reflection
37.
I am not badly off with such a rating. I feel I have appropriate leadership skills that any nursing
position would require. The rating suggests that I can confidently perform tasks with utmost
leadership mindset compared any other person whose rating would have been below 30. I feel
confident about myself and have the strong urge to be associated with any tasks that demands for
leadership roles.
1 domain of strength and a reflection
I communicate effectively. Communication is a key asset in nursing practice. According to
Cummings et al. (2018), the ability of communicating effectively to the physicians, caregivers,
family members and even patients becomes imperative providing appropriate and best care
outcomes of the patients. Communication is part of the therapy, the way I will communicate to
the patient will determine whether after listening to what I will have to say, he/she will still be in
the same state. Clear and effective communication from the nurse makes it possible to uphold the
utmost integrity and conciseness that any patient would ever want.
1 domain for improvement that you would like to develop further
Sharing vision for the ongoing change with stakeholders and experts.
Reflect on and discuss in depth with 1 example of how this can be a barrier to your nursing
practice
Inability to share the vision of the ongoing change could hinder one from working as a team. If
the members of the staff do not work as a team, it is likely to promote underdevelopment nursing

practice and poor work out put. The reason why not being good in such area can be dangerous to
the nursing practice, is because it will hinder you from sharing the vison of the health facility and
hence making you work as an expert on your own, which is very detrimental to medical practice.
Use 1 scholarly nursing article to explain how this domain is important for nursing
leadership
It is necessary that as a nurse you continuously grow with other experts and not just growing
alone. It is important to associate other experts and professionals to your success because your
success is tied to another people’s success. According to Murray, Sundin and Cope, 2018),
effective sharing of a vision for the ongoing change of the heath facility will help promote strong
team work that will ultimately make a better social skills and improvement. The information in
the article could be used as a source of some special insights into making a vison for the health
facility live and functioning according to the stipulated facts.
Develop one (1) SMART goal that would most facilitate your future practice as a leader in
nursing
I will ensure that I become more effective in communication in my nursing career, by becoming
one of the most sought for nurses for consultancy. This will help promote patient/client friendly
environment, openness and free communication. I would wat to become a leader in
communication. According to Lee and Kim (2016) leadership simply calls for service; a leader is
meant to serve and thus it suggests that serving people will also require that I become effective in
my communication anytime I encounter a patient. Effective communication goes hand in hand
with conflict resolution. Developing an effective communication also ensures that resolution f
conflicts is made easy among the staff members
