Introduction
Most of the nurses in the current days have to face high level of health care challenges
that also can provide the opportunity for growth of the nursing professionals. Organizations are
continuously facing changes that need an adaptive and flexible leadership. Nursing and
leadership have common practice that includes caring and compassion (Roberts-Turner et al.,
2014). The aim of the current study is to implement the model of transformational leadership that
is aimed to deal with the existing challenges of innovation within the healthcare system. The
study will also highlight the basic model characteristics of transformational leadership that can
be applied in the elements of advanced role practice.
Transformational leadership in nursing
According to Lavoie‐Tremblay et al., (2016), the leadership model within the nursing
practice can be implemented depending upon the needs of the health care service. The changes
that take place within the healthcare need to deal with effective understandings and changing the
overall protocol of the practice. Roberts-Turner et al., (2014), have suggested about the model of
transformational leadership that can easily help to deal with the challenges of frequent changes
within the healthcare sector. Transformational leadership is important to develop an effective
nursing workforce as it generates positive vibes by inspiring others with the positive attitude.
Within the metamorphic nature of the nursing care, it is essential to ensure that with the nature of
transformational leadership, it will be possible to motivate all healthcare workers.

Characteristics 1- Clear Objective As the health care service requirements are
changing rapidly in the modern days, it is
important for the nursing leaders to have clear
vision that include the skill of quick change
within the system. They also need to have the
courage to have clear communication.
Characteristics 2- Swift Response Due to high level of complexities and
challenges, the effectiveness of the nursing
decisions is highly dependent upon the ability
to act swiftly and accurately. This will
increase the chance of rapid recovery of the
critical patients (Renjith, Renu & George,
2015).
Nevertheless, in order to achieve the same,
the nurse needs to gain detailed clinical
information of the patient.

Communication
One of the effective characters of the
transformational leader is their ability to
motivate the people. This is achieved by

that are faced due to the complexities at the
workplace. The transformational leader needs
to understand the situation and challenges and
motivate health care workers by providing
them with appropriate values.
Characteristics 5- Implement new ideas This is one of the basic characteristics of
transformational leadership, where new ideas
need to implement regularly to deal with the
rapid changing health care service (Schwartz
