Notably, I observed that my nurse leader particularly influences the work environment in
various ways. First, the nurse leader strives to create a suitable work culture that is appropriate
for all nurses (Hutchinson and Jackson, 2013). The preceptor establishes, manages and where
necessary deconstructs the work culture. A proper work culture involves the ability of workmates
to cooperate and work together, assist each other when problems arise and propose how
leadership can be improved to ensure the provision of better services. It also entails sharing
values and current research knowledge to shape decision-making skills.
