REFLECTIVE JOURNAL
Introduction
Health care system is clearly dependent on the nursing professionals as the primary care
is provided by the nurses. Hence, therapeutic relationship with the patients is one of the most
important aspects of the nursing care providence. In this aspect it can be found that the nursing
professionals should manage the care with proper planning and provide the patients proper care
with patient centered approach of care. It has been seen that the leadership and the care
procedures are integrated aspects and also dependent on the knowledge and skills of the nurses.
In terms of these aspects it can be found that the process of care should be incorporated with the
evidence based practice as it helps in providing improved care to the patients. In the following
section I will be reflecting on the earlier mentioned aspects with the consideration of the
importance of nursing skills and the effective leadership management.
Reflection
Nursing care is a dynamic aspect and comprised of different skills and knowledge which
should be considered for achieving the improved health outcome of the patients. In this context I
can state that different types of leadership approaches can be implemented for the improvement
of care procedures in the medical surgical units. However, the process of care can be improved
with the implementation of transformational leadership as it allows the nurses to improve or
enhance the care procedure in terms of management and influencing other to the positive
direction (Vaismoradi et al., 2016). Moreover, I find that the diversity in the care team would
effective in terms of quality care providence. However, it can be stated that process of care
would be effective if the inter-professional skills of the nurses can be improved. In this context I
find that the inter-professional skills and leadership skills are very much important in the aspect

of the improved care delivery (Opsha & Kane, 2017). Based on this assessment I can reflect that
the nursing communication skill is one of the most important aspects that can improve the other
skills as well. The improvement of the communication and the management skills would lead to
an improved care procedure development. The skills including communication, leadership, time
management and effective management are important for providing better care to the patients
and in achieving the customer satisfaction. The factor of the transformational leadership is
dependent on the inter-professional collaboration skills which includes the active listening,
positive communication, the critical thinking and influential capabilities as well (Boamah et al.,
2018). I can reflect that the nursing care can be affected by the work force ratio that is the
workload and the nursing staff imbalance. I can highlight that the increase in the workforce can
effectively improve the care quality. Based on this factor I can highlight that the nursing care is
affected with different aspects as mentioned earlier and should be improved with the process of
the workforce increase and proper education and training providence to the nurses. The training
and the education should focus on the improvement of the nursing skills especially the
communication and the leadership skills. However, evidence based practice and the patient
centered approaches should be improved with the consideration of the management of the care
procedure and improvement of the communication skills.
Other than all these above aspects I can state that the health care policies should be
improved with the consideration of the improved care delivery. The policies should be focused
on the health care workforce improvement and providing education to the nurses for the
improvement of skills and the knowledge regarding health care delivery. On this context it can
be stated that the proper improvement of the care procedure would reflect in the statistical
aspects of the mortality rate and morbidity rate of people of the country as well. In this context I

can reflect upon the requirement of the proper nursing skills and education as well. I found that
the improvement of the care procedure and the quality of care should be achieved with the proper
knowledge and skill development of the nursing professionals (Saud & Chen, 2018). The factor
of the improvement would be dependent on the health care disparities such as the discriminative
behaviors of the nurses. The elimination of these behaviors regarding age, race, gender and
socio-economic status should be implemented. I can find that the process of the care should not
be affected by the discriminative behaviors (Chun & Lee, 2017). Thus, the factor of the change
in this process should be dependent on the transformational leadership. Based in this context it
can be stated that the process of the care should be improved with the proper leadership
implementation. The ethical consideration of the nursing should be considered with priority
(Suhonen et al., 2018). However, I can state that the performance development of the nurses also
dependent on the process of proper knowledge and skills development including the leadership
skills and the communication skills (Fukada, 2018). I can found that the effective nursing care
should be improved with the consideration of different leadership management other than the
transformational leadership as well.
Other than all these the technological aspects of care should be improved among the
nurses. I can highlight that the care procedure should comprise of the EHR system and thus the
technological aspects should be improved among the nurse as well. In this Aspect I can
effectively reflect on the fact that the process of the technological management should be
developed among the nurses as well for the improved care providence (van Houwelingen et al.,
2016). The policies should be focused on the health care workforce improvement and also
providing education to the nurses for the improvement of skills and the knowledge regarding
health care delivery (Aldridge & Hummel, 2018). Policy development for the improved care

procedure and nursing care improvement should be focused upon all the above mentioned
aspects. The transformational leadership and leadership skill development, communication skill,
inter-professional collaboration skills and the technological management skills along with the
elimination of the discriminative behaviors among the nurses would be effective in process of the
improved care delivery. In this context I can state that the health care should be improved with
the context of the care delivery with the consideration of customer satisfaction and nursing
professionalism.
Based on all this factors I can find that I need to improve my time management skills as
one of the most crucial aspect for the nursing care providence. Time management is one of the
skills which are apparently my weakness. On the contrary my strength is the support from my
family and my mentor which helps me working in an improved way and also develops my skills
of nursing for providing improved care to the patients.
Conclusion
Based on the above reflection I can conclude that the nursing development is dependent
on different aspects. The factor of the improvement of the nursing care is effective if the
leadership management and the knowledge of communication, time management and clinical
skills improved. The factor of the knowledge development and the skills development with the
consideration of the proper policy development is required. In this context I can find that the
process of care can be improved with the process of skill development training and education of
the nurses as well. On the other hand the process of the improved care is dependent on the
nursing attitude as well. I can improve my skills and knowledge with proper evidence based
