This report presents an analysis of nursing leadership styles based on interviews with three nursing leaders from a public-funded hospital in the United States, representing pediatric, palliative, and emergency departments. The leaders discussed their preferred leadership styles, including transformational, servant, and democratic leadership, and how these styles contribute to their success. The report compares and contrasts these styles, highlighting the benefits and potential drawbacks of each. It also reflects on missed opportunities for questioning during the interviews and concludes that effective nursing leadership styles are crucial for improving patient outcomes, reducing nursing errors, and decreasing nurse turnover. The report references relevant literature to support the analysis of each leadership style.
