Personal Statement
Ever since I was younger I have always dreamed about being a nurse, back in Africa
my mother used to be a nurse she bought nursing equipment for me and she would teach me
how to use that equipment and how to take care of people, my mother was my role model.
She also told me that as nurse, you must have good connection with your patients and making
them comfortable with your presence is the major duty of a nurse. By this, I can treat all my
patients in a friendly manner and easily motivate them to take appropriate treatment
regarding their health and disease. It is the best position through which I am able to help sick
and poor people and make them mentally strong regarding their issue. I am very sensitive
through which I can feel the pain of others. All these inspired me even though I knew being a
nurse wasn’t easy but I knew if my mother could do it then I could too, my goal was to care
and help people. This made me very determined to go to school, college and University to get
all my qualification and be like her and make her a proud mother. Being a nurse involves
working as a team, being able to communicate with the other colleagues alongside. This also
involves serving society and caring for people.
By this inspiration only I have selected to complete my education. I have had many
experiences in past, I have been to a few hospitals such as the Royal Manchester hospital, the
Bury hospital and a few more. I worked there as a nursing assistance, working in these
hospital’s environments allowed me to have great experience whilst doing something I love
as well. This was a great way to help me prepare for when I qualify as a nurse.
In order to fulfil my aspiration, I had completed my course of Health and social care
level 2 from Hopwood Hall College. English level 2 course has been completed by me from
Rochdale Campus. I have totally gone through my whole study within the area of Hospitality
and management. For this, diploma has been passed by me from London school of business
in the field of hospitality and management. Currently, I am pursuing the health and social
diploma from the London College of UCK. However, I am having a previous work
experience within different hospitals and care homes that motivate me and make me learn
about my roles and responsibilities as a Nurse. At the time whenever I feel disappointed, my
mother cherished and became my inspiration to be motivated me to work hard.
In the past years, I worked with Bury NHS hospital where my major role was to give
food to the patients and look after them. I have completed this responsibility by incorporating
my full efforts and giving food to patients on the particular timings. In addition to this, I have
joined Nestac for voluntary work in which I need to give proper customer support services.
This job has given me enormous knowledge within the area of different needs of different

customers. I am able to understand the thinking of customers and providing them appropriate
solutions as well. It requires concentration, better communication skills as well as convincing
power.
In the previous year, I had also worked with the Rochdale Care Home. Here, I was
supposed to help out the elders and make them happy. They must feel like a part of care
home and always feel happy. Helping out to elders has always given me immense energy and
uncountable love from them. They always given me several blessings which energise me to
work hard and treat them more precisely. However, these are some of the best moments I
have ever had as my past working experience. All these places have motivated me and made
me more enthusiastic to work. At the time of facing any type of issue, I use to contact with
mother who was my inspiration as she teaches me all the ways she has completed her duties
in the past years. In addition to this, there are some other places where I have worked in order
to gain my experience such as Rochdale Council, Royal Mail, JAYS CARE HOMES-
Enfield, Brown cross Home care LTD etc. These are some of the places where I have worked
in the past years and this has motivated me to work more willingly as well. With this, I am
able to work in any medical or nursing sector as I have set a strong base for the same.
I don’t have any doubts on my capabilities as I am pretty sure to handle my patients
with full dignity and sincerity. Due to this, I am able and capable to work with any medical
sector and prove my skills through my best working as well. Most of the time I have to face
several difficulties regarding mentally disabled patients and I need to treat them with full care
and love. I want to become nurse as I see so much potential to contribute in someone’s day
and life whether it is in relation with the good attitude. With this, I can provide utmost care to
my patients and do absolutely best for my patients. I am very loving and sensitive person. I
can feel the pain of others. Due to this factor also I am able to give the same care to my
patients that I would provide a family member and loved one. By treating someone with
utmost care, they might feel like the best they can. Within this, any of the patient feels like
either they pass on with time or they can survive due to the high care from their nurses. They
play the most important role in their life.
One of the major potentials which I possess is regarding to the serious injuries of patients. At
such time, most of the patients give up and do not want any type of treatment as they do not
have any hope. I am having that skill by which I can convenience my patients to take
treatments and medicines. I can present my whole willingness of work towards him/her and
give them utmost care as per their serious injuries.

As per my personal skills, I can determine that my ambition from secondary schools
onwards has always been to become a nurse. For this, I have completed my education level 3
in child minding and currently pursuing diploma in health and social care. This position
inspires me just because of its positive change to people’s lives. However, I am able to do
this and support my patients by providing them appropriate treatments and bring out positive
change for them. I have always been interested in doing such practices due to these three
main reasons:
First reason behind this is my area of interest towards the care of people and working
within a large hospital environment where I can be involved in the hand on medical
treatment of patients.
Another major reason is my mother’s inspiration from my childhood as she was also
in the same profession and she always bought me different nursing equipment. This
makes me more interested about this field and I am able to learn more and
appropriately.
The third reason of coming into this profession is huge base employment
opportunities such as the NHS as well as other hospitals.
As per my skills, I feel that I am a quite friendly person and easily convenience my
patients for the treatment. I have the correct personality and social skills which I need to
communicate with patients of all ages and backgrounds. I am very hard working person and I
often work with full passion. In case of any type of assigned responsibility, I will fulfil that
with my total hard work. It has proven me a dedicated person towards my roles and
responsibilities and I may able to work with full passion and hard work. Whenever, I set
some goals, I always do my best to achieve it. This is the best skill which I possess and it
inspires to achieve my goals and become a nurse.
I am also a good communicator due to my better communication skills. It motivates me to
communicate appropriately with my patients and give them better solutions regarding their
any type of query. It also supports me to work as a team and working as a team that get the
job done quicker than an individual.
One tag line became always my inspiration i.e. “Be Yourself”. I always try to behave in a
sense of dignity and what I am. Presenting what you are is the major quality of any person as
per their job responsibilities and personal statement reflection as well.
I am also currently studying health & social care at The London College. By the end of
this course, I will achieve a Diploma on health & social care management, enabling me to be
able to apply for University and continue my childhood room as a nurse. My course also

teaches me different types of subjects that will help me when I go into nursing university.
This course helps me to have good knowledge and understanding of how to deal with all
types of patients.
All too often, a person portrays nurse as a second class job and believes that this job is
for those people who is not good enough to make the academic grade and become doctors as
well. However, nursing requires much intelligence as well as sense and sensitivity. They must
treat their patients with full respect and dignity. A nurse requires being very committed
towards their patients and makes them fully aware about their treatments. It is the best way
through which higher success can be attained. After passing through my past working
experience, I have realized that nurses are the empathetic wheels and they are the most
essential component of any hospital. They are the care givers and they put all their patients
together. From this, I have learned that as a nurse I have to make my patients as comfortable
and assured as possible in all capacities.
However, every past interaction that I had with nurses has inspired me and it was my
pleasure to work with them. In this total journey and my concern, I have realized that
selection of a nurse as my profession is one of the best parts of my life. It is the only
responsibility who all time energize and motivated me to give a better treatment to all my
patients. Most of all, I am inspired by work that nurses are given in any setting. They make
their patients feel proud and change their lives. They are the necessary component of any
functional hospital.
