2PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT
My Philosophy Statement
The concept of ethics, safety, advocacy and nursing practice is critically important for
the nursing profession. According to the report, the nurses are found to advocate the just and
ethical nursing practice that helps in creating and sustaining environment for supporting the
acceptable standard and professional practice (Nursingworld.org, 2020). The thesis statement
involves creating a philosophy statement that will explore my personal nursing philosophy to
grow and develop throughout my education and professional career.
Philosophy Statement of a Nurse
My philosophy statement is to integrate the provision of critical thinking with the
nursing practice in order to serve the people in an appropriate manner. This involves being
competent and involve the lifelong learning process of the nurse as well as incorporate the
compassionate and empathetic care process. The ethic such as honesty, integrity, and offering
respect to all the choice of an individual along with respecting different culture is important
(Pickles, Lacey & King, 2019).
Importance of Nursing Practice
The nursing practice is important to me because it helps in catering to the critical
needs of the patients as well as maintaining the multidimensional roles in offering care and
support to patients in both work and professional life. The educational aspect that has offered
to be was appropriate and entirely based on theoretical underpinnings only. The lack of
practical work was obtained only in the professional life that allowed me to gain more
relevant and appropriate knowledge as well as skill in conducting the practices. I need to treat
people with dignity, respect and integrity in both professions and in general life. This will
allow in the establishment of a close and strong interpersonal relationship that will help in
gaining the trust of the people.

3PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT
Focus of my nursing practice
Jansen et al. (2019) opined that the nurses need to focus on the protection of human
rights as well as uphold the ethics and values of the profession to conduct the activities on a
daily basis. It can be observed that the nurses need to reinforce the practice environment by
avoiding any negative actions that would hamper the quality of care. The support of the
health care agencies is important and critical in the respect that the maintenance of
relationship among the stakeholders will help in positioning the critical role of nursing in
society. It is a common fact that conflicts occur between the personal and professional values
and is responsible for affecting the decision-making of the care process; therefore, I need to
be judgmental in addressing the conflict in such a way that it will ensure the concept of
patient safety and promote the best interest of the patient (Chiafery et al., 2018). This will
help to embrace me to incorporate the concept of caring and justice that are stated to be the
guiding principles in teaching the aspects of ethics and human rights in the provision of care.
It can be concluded by stating that the philosophy statement of my nursing practice will be
based on the responsibility of nursing professionals. The work of a nurse needs to have
collaborated with the healthcare professionals and other professionals that will help in the
creation of moral communities thus, promoting, protecting and sustaining the ethical practice
by offering quality care to patients.
