Article 1: The Triple Aim: Optimizing Health, Care and Cost
Introduction:
The purpose of the article is to introduce effective strategies to reduce healthcare cost in
the United States while improving the quality of healthcare service at the same time. The
researchers have identified that healthcare cost is far high in the United States as compared to
other developed countries and such increasing healthcare cost has resulted in the poorer health
status of the overall population. Thus, the researchers have focused on specific objectives to
identify a better way for providing health services. The three aims include improving the health
of the selected populations, improve the experience of patient care and decreasing or controlling
the per capita healthcare cost. IHI has worked with 15 organizations to implement the five
components of the triple aim such as the focus on families and individual, develop new designs
for primary health service, effective health management of population, cost control plan and
appropriate integration and execution of the system. In future, the components of triple aim could
be implemented in the diverse health sector, and focus should specifically design concepts and
adequate skills that are needed to achieve successful outcomes associated with the triple aim

Health insurance has been considered one of the most common ways of accessing health
service. It has been found in the research that approximately 40 million people in America do not
get adequate health service during the time of need as they do not have any health insurance. In
order to reduce the prevalence of uninsured population the institute of medicine’s committee has
studied the report of uninsured population to identify the factors such as the economy, social
condition and understanding about health that influence the incidence of being uninsured. It has
been indicated that many people do not want to remain uninsured; however, their financial and

social condition restrict them to access health insurance. The committee has published a report
which has identified the factors influencing the incidence of being uninsured to introduce
effective strategies that could help to address such factors and support the uninsured population
to access health insurance (AL, 2018).

accessing health service during the time of need. It is also demonstrated that uninsured people do
not get adequate health service thus, lack proper treatment while suffering from health issues.
Such information has helped to understand the current requirement of the selected population,
