INTRODUCTION
Nurse standards are essential part of protecting public and also achieving quality practice
of nursing outcomes. These standards represent to government, profession and public level of
quality of actual practice which can be expected. Standard of register nurses signify regulation,
determination of capability of nurse for practice, education and employers, guide consumers and
others which can be expected from a register nurse (White, Dudley-Brown & Terhaar, 2016).
This assignment will include comprehensively conducts assessment by using the Australian
Nurse Standards Tool behavioural cues. And also the things which should a nurse require to
learn during semesters.
MAIN BODY
In a semester of nursing practice there are certain things which has to learn by a student
during the practice of nursing. Specific aspect of health assessment such as measurement of TPR,
health interviewing and measurement of blood pressure. There are several things which a nurse
should know, it develop a good skills of nursing and the way of providing care to patients.
During my nursing practice, there were several things which has thought me. Questions should
be understand by a student to learn the information, I learnt about the appropriate responds which
are required and important for a nurse to give a good care to patient. And I also learnt about the
demonstration and physical techniques during the assessment process. Nurse has to encourage
patient so that they can provide a complete information which helps in a better treatment and
care. There are many assessments during in nursing practice which has to be learn by a student to
become a good nurse. I was pretty good to collect informations and keeping the data about the
patients. To provide a full and detailed information, patient should feel comfortable for that good
communication skills and well interaction is required to make them feel safe (Reiss-Brennan &
et. al., 2016).
During my nursing practice semester I was good with the interaction and health
strategies which are used for a patient to achieve a good treatment. Health interviewing is an
important aspect in case of nursing practice. I used to perform well in this assessment. But I was
not so good with TPR which is temperature, pulse rate and respiration assessment. It was quite
difficult for me to check TPR due to lack of knowledge about the body, which was quite difficult
for me to learn properly. This assessment needs to measure and record the signs and health and

keen observation. I was not so good to understand an accurate measure of every vital sign.
Measuring blood pressure was easy for me because I feel it is not that difficulty as TPR. In
classes I could not concentrate on the lecture which was about the TPR and the demonstrations
classes which I missed so it affected on my nursing standards. I could not score well in the
measuring TPR assessment. Now because of this I could not reach to those standard which are
required for a ANSAT (McCormack & McCance, 2016).
In nursing practice every assessment is required and essential to provide a good care and
treatment in future so it is important to learn every practice properly. It was a draw back for me
that I could not learn about measuring TPR accurately which affecting to my performance in
nursing practice. The comprehensive conduct assessments requires a proper data management,
medical records and test results which has to be correct and maintained. As the TPR requires a
proper data management and accurate measure of temperature, pulse rate and respiration which
is important to check any sign of disease. I could not learn these assessment which come under
comprehensive conducts assessment (Masten & Monn, 2015).
GIBB'S CYCLE OF REFLECTION
Description
During my time in this semester regarding health assessment, there were several things
which were appropriately taught which were essential to a proper conduction of health
assessment. Several aspects related to measuring of Blood Pressure, TPR measurement and
health interviewing were taught to us. In addition to this, methods of conducting assessments
were also taught during this semester (Boswell & et. al., 2015). As an example, I was taught of
how best to conduct these assessments holistically and culturally appropriate. Furthermore, using
different assessment techniques to appropriately collect relevant and useful information was also
taught in the semester. Another prominent aspect which was focused upon in this semester was
working in partnership, as well as, assessing the resources available to inform planning.
Feelings
Initially, my thoughts ere quite pessimistic and I was feeling under-confident. The reason
for this is that the aspects being taught were based upon real application and medical practice
which is a crucial and a very complex activity. However, as I progressed through the event and
learnt about different healthcare and assessment techniques by my superiors, it helped me

develop an optimistic feeling about the overall semester. Furthermore, I got adequate support
from my peers and fellow students which helped me to clear my conscience and appropriately
learn new concepts and methods of healthcare. This transition of feelings from negative to
positive has been quite useful and fruitful as far as my healthcare career is considered.
Evaluation
Throughout the semester, there were various good and bad things which I experienced as
far as health assessment is concerned (Asarnow & et. al., 2015). Several factors led to favourable
outcomes while some of the above mentioned processes were quite problematic for me during
this module. As far as the good things are concerned, I was appropriately able to learn and apply
several assessment techniques such as BP measuring effectively and professionally. Moreover, I
was able to assess patients in ways which were were holistic and culturally appropriate. Proper
attention was given by me over aspects which are approved by the culture of my patients which
made this thing quite effective for me. In addition, another factor which was in my favour was
working in partnership. It was very effective as well as convenient for me to work with others as
an effective team member to determine various factors affecting health and well being of people
to further determine priorities for action. However, there were several things which did not work
well on my account. For instance, there were quite few complications where using of a range of
assessment techniques are concerned. I was effective in some of them, however, others like
measurement of TPR came out to be very problematic. Furthermore, collecting information too
was quite complex activity and ineffective on my part. For example, I failed in using right type
of questions to gain useful information from patients. In addition, time management too was
somewhat inappropriate as I sometimes failed to complete the assessment within due time.
Analysis
The overall assessment proved to be fruitful, however, some negative aspects could have
been improved to enhance its effectiveness more appropriately. For instance, as per acquisition
of information is concerned, I could have applied various different techniques which could have
helped me in acquiring useful information from the clients. In addition to this, as per time
management is concerned, I could have further prioritised my task with application of
appropriate strategies which could have helped me in providing ample time to every activity,
thus, finishing the assessment appropriately.

Conclusion
While working and practising in this semester, I realised how important health
assessments are for medical profession. In addition to this, different approaches could have been
used by me to effectively carry on this assessment. For instance, feedbacks could have been
acquired by me through my superiors to effectively find my limitations and working on the same.
As for acquisition of information, there are several useful aspects and communication techniques
which would have helped me in acquisition of information from the patients.
Action Plan
In future, if I come across another semester on health assessment as well as for my future
medical career, I would be applying several techniques which are essential in order to enhance
my effectiveness in carrying out health assessments (Chambers, Feero & Khoury, 2016). For
instance, I would undergo extensive training to learn using different techniques such as
measuring TPR for enhancing my skills in assessing the health of patients. In addition to this, I
would attend seminars regarding time management so that I become capable of completing the
assessment on time. Furthermore, I would undergo communication training to enhance my soft
skills to further develop enough competence to acquire useful and complete information from
patients.
CONCLUSION
From the above information it has been concluded that there are certain standards for a
nurse practice, those are very important to provide a good care and heath to patient. Take
standard is comprehensive conduct assessment which is very essential to learn various
assessments during nursing practice. Every assessment is required to learn in nursing practice
because it leads to provide a good care and treatment to patient.
