NURSE AS A PROFESSION
Nursing, today, is one of the America's most interesting and in-demand employment and nurses
work on health promotion, illness prevention and assist patients deal with diseases. For patients,
families, and communities, they are proponents and health teachers. Nurses work with physicians
on treatment and examination results, medication administration, and the provision of immediate
recovery and rehabilitation Patient Care. They monitor, assess and document patient symptoms,
reactions and work towards providing immediate treatment to patients. Therefore I want to be a
nurse and enhance my knowledge and experience in providing patients with quality care. Not
only a doctor’s treatment is sufficient for wellbeing of a patient, but also the nurse’s care and
assistance contributes to achieve improved health outcomes. Nurses must be aware of patient’s
disease and the issues they are facing and should also have expertise and knowledge of what is
being done.
My passion for nursing education and my deep-rooted enthusiasm allow me to serve the
patients well. I've always had a desire for assisting patients, managing health care plans, learning
new stuff, and curiosity about medical circumstances. Nursing education requires curiosity,
continuous learning and research and I always had a keen interest in knowing things and conduct
research.
I want to follow the core healthcare competencies while practicing that includes-
Providing patient-centered healthcare by identifying, respecting and caring about patient’s
values, preferences and needs and treat them with quality care irrespective of their
socioeconomic status, cultures and ethics.
Working in interdisciplinary teams- There is no alternative of teamwork, therefore, cooperative
collaborative and integrative work ensuring care is reliable and continuous.

Employing Evidence based practice- Integrating best studies with clinical knowledge and patient
values for optimal care and engage to the extent practicable in teaching and research operations.
Applying quality improvement- Identifying errors and hazards that can arise in care and
implementing best safety design skills and principles in measuring and carrying out quality
treatment and care. Designing and testing interventions with the aim to improve quality and
therefore patient’s health outcome.
Utilizing informatics- Communicating, mitigating mistakes, managing knowledge and
supporting decision-making using IT (Information Technology).
I want to incorporate in my work, institutional policies and procedures, by applying nursing
Practice care, code of ethics and specialist accreditation, and self-determination. I want to also
incorporate the above core competency standards according to the American Nurses Association
(ANA) 2010. I also want to include professional, legal and ethical practice, governance of health
care in my work by ensuring effective communication and through holistic approaches to care by
maintaining safe environment, leadership in nursing and career development by showing
accountability for the growth of status as a registered skilled nurse and implementing different
health care strategies applying knowledge and skills.
