Introduction
Bed sore, known as pressure sore, is an injury to the skin and possibly
the tissues below the skin. It is generally caused by lack of movement
that people normally face after major surgery. The factors are diabetes,
age that influence to develop bed sore in patients. Nurses follow some
rules and regulations and abide by Nursing and Midwifery Board of
Australia code of conduct. This presentation will focus on bed sore after
surgeries and follow 6c and relates them with code of conduct and
nursing standards describing each C.
THE MAINTENANCE OF 6C ON BED SORE AFTER SURGERY
Care
Intensive care by health care practitioner especially nurses helps to
prevent pressure ulcer. It is the responsibility of a nurse to move the
patient every 2 hours or more for bed ridden people. According to the
code of person-centered care, the nurses ensure the delivery of safe and
quality care, provide person-centered care and make evidence-based
decision according to the patient condition (Mellor & Greenhill, 2014).
SOP directed the nurses to work and supervise timely to care the patient.
Compassion
Compassion means the sensitivity that is provided to understand the
person’s suffering from post-operative bed sore. It is described in terms
of empathy, dignity and respect. According to SOP, compassionate
nurses are present to understand the patient’s condition and can
intervene a special treatment for them. According to the code of ethics
nurses value respect and kindness for self and other patients.
Competency
It denotes the health care system and requirement of the post-operative
patients must be broad and provide efficient care according to the
necessity. The guidelines of the nursing practice demonstrate the
necessity of assessment of care needs and support in according to
deliver personal quality care. According to principle of decision
making, the nurses promote on behalf of patient and distinguish the
substitute decisions whenever needed for the patient (Jerpseth et al,
2017).
Communication
It is needed to communicate effectively about document
staging, treatment plans and required interventions with the
patient, their family and colleagues (Osuala, 2014). SOP
describes nurse to communicate effectively to develop trust
and understanding. According to Code of conduct, nurses
clearly and accurately communicate with their colleagues.
Courage
The nurses ensure enough courage providing primary care
in the patient with bed sore after major operation. The
nurse must possess a deep insight regarding this issue. SOP
discusses nurse performs practices based on her skill,
experience, feelings and thoughts. Code of ethics explains
nurse values informed decision-making (Cashin et al.,
2017).
Commitment
The nurses must commit a vigorous labor during treating a
patient with bed sore after major operation. They must
oblige with the treatment procedure and maintain
commitment, must be dedicated with the policy. SOP
describes nurse commitment to consider in respond in a
manner to the health and well-being. According to Code of
ethics, nurse worths socially, economically and
ecologically sustainable environment promoting health.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it can be stated that following the standards
of practice and code of conduct and maintaining the 6C the,
the nurse practitioner provide care to the bed sore patient.
