Reflection on Values, Assumptions, Beliefs and Attitudes regarding Nursing
The core values of nursing denote caring, integrity, and diversity. I assume that the
nurses have to build a strong ethical foundation by following their responsibilities and
providing the proper care delivery to the people. The belief of nursing helps in understanding
the nursing theories foundations. Additionally, the nursing attitudes involves the positivity,
the nurse should be highly skilled along with the nurturing nature towards others (Nursing
Education Experts , 2019).
The difference in the above mention list
There is lots of difference in between both the list of strengths as the aboriginal
people are more concern about their traditional values, culture and belief. Therefore, their
strengths in the list are more dependent on the traditional factors. While, in the case of an
individual’s strengths in the list, the focus is on the personal point of view regarding the
nursing for the public beneficial factor.
Difficulties to find the list of strength
In the case of aboriginal people strengths, we have to be more careful while listing it
as they are more concerned group and we have to found the list by keeping the traditional
values in our mind.

Weekly Reflection II
Views of Aboriginal people on changing world
The Aboriginal Australian is the combination of the different indigenous Australian
people such as Tasmania and the Tiwi people. The strongly supports the traditional values
and culture and hence, they find difficult to adjust in the changing scenario. If we talk about
Aboriginal Nursing in the hospitals, it was very difficult for them to face situations such as
they did not get the jobs easily due to racism. Additionally, they do not get proper treatment
(The Guardian, 2019).
Implications in your professional, personal or educational practice
The implications in the nursing profession are related with the consequences of some
medications or a disease, which are not related to the medical side effects but are related to
the problems, which can only be resolved by the nurses. To understand the role of the nursing
profession, first, the individual has to generate the understanding about the medication or the
disease by perusing the nursing education (NCBI, 2019).
Weekly Reflection III
Indigenous Australians Recognition and Singing of treaty
Australia is the only country, left which have not signed any kind of treaty with the
indigenous people in Australia. Recently, the lower house of parliament of Victoria approved
the bill, which contains the suggestion of the signing of a treaty with the indigenous
Australian. However, it has been observed that there is continuous discussion and debates
happening in Australia regarding the signing of the treaty (BBC, 2018).

On the other hand, the Social Justice Commissioner in Australia has delivered a speech
regarding the treaty and the constitutional reforms for the Aboriginal people in Australia. As
per their views, Australian people would never agree with the idea of signing the treaty, He
said that already the Australian have indirectly signed thousands of treaties with the
Indigenous people in the form of Lang Use Agreements (Australian Human Rights
Commission , 2019).
Weekly Reflection IV
Impact of work with Aboriginal people as an “Endorsed Enrolled Nurse”
I am an endorsed enrolled nurse in the healthcare department, uniquely placed in this
position to sustain and initiate contact with the Aboriginals of Australia. It is the part of my
work to intervene the needs in the society, which helps in reducing the social issues by
providing fair treatment in the healthcare sector to the Aboriginal Australians. Additionally,
due to this, I have to face challenges such as lack of trust, culture barriers, and lack of
interaction due to racism (Australian Government , 2019). Additionally, these people find the
treatment very costly. Hence, to meet with the challenges, there are some necessary steps
must be taken by me in this profession such as always respects their sentiments, generates the
strategies that help in filling the cultural gaps, and provides the services at the lower cost.

Social categories advantages
The Social categories in the society can be considered as the social group when the
people of the same category have regular interaction with each other and they identified
themselves as the member of the same group. The social categories broadly divided into the

class, gender and race. The social categories get social privileges such as special advantages,
immunity, or rights. These advantages commonly offered to the peoples who belong to the
group of social inequality, disability, racial category, gender identity, religion, social class
and sexual orientation (NCBI , 2019). Additionally, the privilege might be offered to the
individuals who have emotional or psychological problems, to boost their confidence.

Reflective Summary
Description
I am working as the endorsed enrolled nurse and I observed that the inequity of health
exists in the aboriginal people of Australia. The reason behind that is the cultural barrier and
racism, which are the major factors that influence the health of the Aboriginals. Racism is
considered as the destructive force in the society and it is the real aspect (NCBI , 2012).
Thus, as the healthcare professional, I have to play an important role in reducing the racism
and cultural barriers disparities in the department of healthcare. There are various types of
nurses in this profession, in which every nurse plays a different role in addressing the
problem of the cultural barrier with Aboriginals.
Feeling and thinking
As per my perception and feelings, it is very important to provide the appropriate
information and education for the schools, communities, organisation and workplaces to
associate with the aboriginals of Australia so that the improvement can be seen in them
regarding their wellbeing and healthcare. Additionally, as per my opinion, there should be the
development of the various strategies which helps in encouraging the aboriginal people to

sustain in this complex environment and work in all the areas of business so that they become
capable to afford the various healthcare facilities easily at the time of requirement.
Evaluation
As per my evaluation, Aboriginal Australians are facing both the negative and
positive aspects of the healthcare sector. Some of the positive aspects for the aboriginals are
that they are getting the healthcare privileges such as they get the treatment at lower cost
along with the proper care of their sentiments (Australian Government , 2019). On the other
hand, they have to face the racism problem, which makes them considered as the weaker
section of the society. Additionally, they are not getting proper educational services (Bailie,
2014).
Analysis
As per the situation, the position of the Aboriginals in Australia has been improving
day by day as they are availing the benefits provided to them by the Australian government.
In addition, the aboriginal people also get extra healthcare benefits from the government and
get the medical facilities at lower-cost (AIATSIS, 2019). Moreover, the Australian
government recently signed the bill regarding the treaties, which specifies that the aboriginal
will be considered as the special group and they will get the reservation benefits in Australia
after signing the treaty with the Australian people (Nature , 2018). The special social group
can only perceive these rights so that it becomes easy for them to sustain in this complex
environment.
Conclusion
From the above discussion, it can be said that the Aboriginals in Australia were facing
the problem of racism in Australia. However, if we talk about the recent scenario, their

condition has been improving day by day as they are getting the extra privileges in the
various sectors to form the Australian government, which makes them sustain their life
easier in this dynamic environment. Moreover, if we talk about the health care sector, here
also they are getting the advantages to improve their medication facilities and enhance their
healthcare system. The Australian people state that they have taken the step towards the
singing of the first treaty of the nation with Australian Aboriginal peoples so that they get the
specific recognition in Australia.
Action Plan
In the future, I hope the treaty in between the Australian people and the Aboriginal must be
signed by the Australian government so that they are able to improve faster in the society and
the next generation will able to secure their position among the Australian citizen without any
kind of destruction. As per my plan, I will start delivering the information and education to
the public about the condition of the Australian aboriginals so that they will also able to help
them. In addition, I will provide the best medical treatment to them at a lower cost and serves
them with full respect. Many of the indigenous people have to commend that signing the
treaty is the best opportunity for them to get symbolic recognition in Australia. Hence, I will
encourage people to support these kinds of activities.
