Introduction:
Reflective practice is essential in nursing practice as it helps to evaluate own work and
identify mistakes, thus allows to improve skills in order to avoid such mistakes in future practice
(Howatson-Jones, 2016). The purpose of the assignment is to reflect on one of my own writing in
order to evaluate my skills and identify the areas of improvement. In this regards I will reflect on
my assignment based on effectiveness of pelvic muscle floor exercises in combination of
medication in stress urinary incontinence.
Discussion:
Before starting to write the research paper I have gathered adequate information
regarding the topic in order to build in-depth understanding and include specific information in
my paper with adequate support of previous literature. I have stuck to the topic throughout the
paper with a clear rationale of selecting the topic and purpose of the research while including
critical thinking in order to evaluate the outcomes. I have used the suggestions provided by
previous literatures to support my ideas which has indicated that the balance between ideas and
evidence. I have searched the work of different authors and included the information in my own
language. Additionally there is no unsupported ideas or generalized concept in the paper and I
have ordered the paper in a flow that has helped me to lead to the conclusion inevitably. Thus, I
would score myself in topic as excellent.
Furthermore, the paper is structured with proper research framework such as
introduction, background of the study, clear research questions, aims and objectives, significance
of the study, study design, ethical consideration and conclusion. Long paragraphs could impact
on the interest of the reader to read the full paragraph consistently, hence I have used different

paragraph with limited words for explaining different aspects and attract the mind of the readers
to go through the full research paper (Bailey, 2014). Each paragraph in the paper has been liked
with one another in order to make the writing fluent and emotive terms have been ignored to
avoid the imaginative content. The paper was mostly correct with proper grammar, punctuations
and spelling and sentence length was maintained effectively. Adequate numbers of literatures
have been included to justify the statements provided in the paper and they were referenced in a
proper manner. Hence, I would score myself in expression as good.
However, I fell that I need to improve my skill to write study design as I did not
mentioned the databases from which I have collected the articles and could include some other
inclusion criteria for the selection of articles. In addition I did not mentioned the limitation of my
study which indicated lack of future scope of practice. Thus, I would like to learn more about
different study methods and understand the proper way of writing study design. In this regards
my short-term strategy would be gather information about different methodology, data collection
and analysis from various sources to gather knowledge and long-term strategy would be to write
more research papers and collect feedback from the experts to evaluate my writing and
improvement (Lewis, 2015). It is expected that with such strategies I could improve my writing
skill in an effective manner.
Conclusion:
The above discussion has demonstrated that, my overall writing is good, however, I need
to concentrate on grammar and punctuation to make my paper with correct grammar and I need
to gather knowledge about different research methods to include adequate information in study
design and make an excellent research paper.
