Homework Assignment
AI Summary
This assignment is a nursing reflection based on a simulation workshop focused on resilience in healthcare settings. The student attended a workshop designed to enhance clinical practice and nursing skills, covering topics like stress management, virtual reality applications, and handling psychological aspects of patient care. The reflection utilizes Gibbs' Reflective Cycle to analyze the workshop experience, highlighting key learnings such as strategies for managing stress, the use of new technologies like VR, and real-life incidents discussed during the simulation. The student reflects on the positive impact of the workshop in updating their knowledge, changing perceptions about conferences, and adopting strategies to improve patient outcomes. The reflection also includes suggestions for improvement, such as extending the workshop duration. The student plans to implement the learned strategies in their clinical practice, seeking guidance from experienced professionals when needed.

1NURSING REFLECTION
A simulation workshop was organised for highlighting the resilience in healthcare
setting that will aim to improve the capability of an individual to face and thrive in different
challenging situations that adopt different strategies and skills to cope up with the difficult
situation faced in the healthcare setting. In the immersive simulation resilience workshop, the
highly skilled and professional delegates were present who will aim to enhance the
knowledge of the individuals present in the workshop and educate the healthcare
professionals to develop their skills, attitudes and knowledge of protecting the patients from
unnecessary risk or threat. The conference was attended by more than 400 people belonging
to different healthcare organizations of Australia. Large amount of nursing students were also
attending the workshop.
During the conference, I was feeling very happy as it was the first time I would attend
or experience any such conferred that will help me to enhance my clinical practice and
nursing skills. Since, I was in my final year of college, I was pretty sure that this conference
and the strategies taught by the higher delegates in this resilience program, will help me to
handle the patients more effectively. I was also feeling nervous and anxious during the
conference as I was continuously thinking if I could implement the best of their knowledge in
my clinical practice or not and how will the higher delegates respond to the questions or
doubts. Hence, I had a mixed feeling during attending the conference.
The best part of the simulation-based learning in the conference was the knowledge
provided by the delegates regarding the real incidents that is faced by the nurses in their
regular practice and what are the prior preventive strategies that can be implemented by each
nurses to avoid any issues (Jamieson, Driscoll & Killicoat, 2018). The video graphic
presentation was displayed that was very interesting and had completely driven the attention
of the crowd that was explaining regarding the latest and advanced strategies to deal with
different patient. The good part of the conference was that it had a positive environment that

was motivating for us to improve our clinical thinking skills, decision-making capabilities
and adopting an efficient reflective strategies that would help us to achieve best patient
outcome. Hence, the impact of this conference was positive as the delegates were very
patiently addressing every doubts or questions of the people present in the crowd (Hamilton,
Woodhouse & Ryder, 2018).
Through this workshop I have learned the strategies to manage the parental stress and
adapt the coping skills that will be helpful for us to identify the stressor and accordingly
mange the stressor using best approach. The concept of virtual reality (VR) was also
explained to us that will help us to manage our emotional challenges while handling the
patient (Alghamdi, 2017). The workshop had also helped us to gain efficient knowledge on
handling the psychological aspect of the patient and how to manage their stress and anxiety
before and during the treatment procedure. The workshop therefore helped us to adopt the
new technologies that would be beneficial and helpful for treating or handling the patient
such as using goggle glass during the induction of trauma patients, use of engagement science
while dealing with the patients. Hence, the workshop had helped us to gain the basic idea
reading the novel technologies that would be helpful in treating and managing the patients
effectively (Man et al., 2019).
The simulation workshop had helped me to gain a better understanding of the latest
technologies and strategies that can be implemented in the regular clinical practice to enhance
the patient outcome (Kelly et al., 2016). The challenges that can be faced by us during our
nursing practice were addressed and highlighted. The real incidents that took place was also
highlighted so that we can gain an idea of handling the patient and adopting the best
strategies that would be helpful to treat the patient. I had a perception that attending any
conference or workshop will not help me to update my knowledge or my practice skills but
after attending this workshop my perception was changed because I could feel that I had

gained some novel ideas reading the issues that were very common in the nursing practice
(Bradway et al., 2018).
The workshop was for 3 hours and in the end they were rushing to conclude the
workshop that was kind of demotivating as there was so much more to ask and learn, hence,
if the total time period of the workshop was more that would have helped us to enhance our
leaning and clear our thoughts in a more elaborated way.
I will adopt the psychological strategies of handling stress or anxiety taught in the
workshop that will help me to handle the stressful situation in a more systematic way and also
manage the emotional challenges while handling nay critical situation or patients. I will make
sure that I implement the strategies taught in this program effectively and take guidance from
the skilled and experienced healthcare professionals in case of any doubt that will help me to
avoid any complicated situation.
