1NURSING
Unit 12
Self assessment
I am a Health Care leader in promoting and developing relationships between customers
and other organizations, empowering and motivating people to create community facilities and
service delivery. I think my present abilities are communication and motivation, but regions of
conflict within teams and on an individual basis are places where growth is needed. I think I have
transformative management features, including communication, motivation, decision-making
and conflict resolution. I recognized the need to concentrate on the connection between the
individuals and the organization in my management experience. Two kinds of leaders have been
recognized–transactional leaders are setting objectives, giving instructions, and using benefits to
strengthen staff behaviors connected with meeting or exceeding defined objectives (Sullivan,
2013). In order to preserve the quality of care delivery as outlined in the benchmarks within the
Essence of Care, preparation and growth are again crucial (Laschinger, Finegan & Wilk, 2011).
Transformation rulers have the capacity, through their capacity to impact attitudes, to motivate
performance beyond expectations. As a leader, it is essential to recognize that team members
have individual abilities, needs, and issues, as well as to offer everyone praise and status.
People who have contributed to the development of my leadership style
I am blessed to have effective mentors in my life who have taught me how to be a
trustworthy and efficient human being. The three most important people in my life who have
helped me to develop my leadership skill include my father, my mother and my nursing teacher.
My Father

2NURSING
My father himself was a nurse leader. He helped me to gain knowledge about different types of
individuals in the nursing fields and how as a leader he used to deal with them. He provided me
with his real time experiences. As a child, it enhanced my interest about the nursing profession.
Hence it can be said that today's position in the nursing profession can be considered as one of
the contributions of my father. Another major factor that needs to be highlighted includes he
taught me a dedication to any profession. From childhood, I was taught, nursing is not merely a
profession but a social service for the community members. This factors enhanced my urge to be
a nurse in the future.
My mother
My mother is a house wife. However, she was another reason behind selecting nursing as
a profession. Besides being a house wife, she was a social worker. She used to share stores of her
work as well as the scenarios faced by her. As a child, I used to feel strong urge to accompany
her. Thus, like my father, my mother also enhanced my interest in nursing. She taught me to be
cooperative and understanding. She has made me understood how it is important to understand
the situation of the people who are suffering from diseases.
My teacher
My teacher when I was in the university was another mention worthy individual who helped me
to develop my leadership skill. He made me understand each and every factors associated with
the nursing profession. Not only this, he shared real time experience to deal with such situations.
