4. Critical Reflection Using Gibbs Cycle
The overall process associated with emerging as a successful nurse is found to undergo a
series of knowledge gaining and brainstorming session. The following section has provided a
critical analysis of the knowledge session experienced by me relating to terminating a pregnancy
case using the six-step analysis process of Gibbs Cycle is as follows:
Description: The knowledge gaining process required all aspiring nurses to acquire detail
understanding of every step associated with the process. This particular learning session is
identified to be very critical and requires all nurses to be well aware of the process right from the
initial stage of their course.
Feelings: I was very excited at the same time worried whether I will be able to
successfully gain the necessary knowledge associated with helping others in terminating
unwanted pregnancy during emergency situations. I feel it is a very sensitive and critical part of
medical diagnosis. The final result of this learning process is of immense significance in helping
career growth largely (Eick, Williamson & Heath, 2012; Chang & Schneider, 2010).
New Perspectives: The direct communication and coordination among the participants
during the learning session was a major knowledge gaining process. It was of immense
significance in helping me analyse my ability to understand each and every process associated
with terminating a pregnancy case. Moreover, the process also taught me how to act carefully as
well as in a quick manner in emergency situations. This learning session is one of the very few
dimensions of nursing study which is very critical as well as a sensitive issue in the present
societal context.
