Assignment on Nursing
A personal philosophy is to incorporate a personal belief evaluating our nursing practice.
These philosophies help us to grow and mature as nurses and a good human human-being. The
learning exposes us to the new beliefs, cultural and variety of new nursing theories. When caring
the patient we can’t ignore other factors and emphasis only on health. Family, friends,
environment, spirituality, and social surroundings are some of the key factors.
Nursing means caring and that is the pure essence of nursing. The nurse should examine
their own philosophies of social, culture, spiritual and understand the importance of each of them
how they shape their method of delivering care (Beta & Lidaka, 2015). In earlier time nurses
articulates their own practice, they became aware that nursing is not only care but knowledge of
applied science is important. Beginning in 1778, a series of significant changes made a group of
people more caring and compassionate and they were the nurses.
The early nurse theorist video is not talking only about one early nursing philosophy but
bring a composite tale of many important figures and their belief together. Nurse Florence
Nightingale (1820-1910) she was from a very affluent family and she was the only daughter. She
broke the typical family bondage and societal cults to become successful nurse. The video talks
about many such empowering stories that encourage me to take this profession passionately. The
video details about how each of those great nurses worked in their own manner to bring the
reform in early nursing practice. Virginia Henderson (187-1996) was another great nurse, served
the society for 60 years, a long time. She was very caring and intelligent nurse who brought new
paradigm in the nursing practices. The Systematic process involved in the nursing practice was
developed by Ernestine Wiedenbach (1900-1998).

I agree with the theorist about how important it is for us to understand the situation of the
patient and care them in a pleasant environment. This develops a self healing process in them
and they automatically wants to recover. The video is very simple and very detailed, it talked
about may great nurse of earlier time those whose service saved millions of people and I was
surprise to see that the passion to care and serve the society makes human so sensible just like
Florence nightingale. Yes I would recommend this video to many students. This video tells a tale
about how the best nursing practice evolved and what is most important in this process. The best
nurses is not those who are very educated or scholar but those who knows the importance of care
and have a positive philosophy that makes them bent towards the well being of human.
It is important to identify our own foundation that will differentiate between our own and
the patient’s beliefs in order to provide unbiased care to them. A personal philosophy practice
provides us a holistic idea of giving care to patients and their families (Silva de Meneses &
Sanna, 2015).. Encompassing the whole family along with the patients support in the plan of care
is best for all.
